If Iron Man or Cap die, that would be a huge leap of faith. If it's done right, it could really be a good jump-start to motivate the younger guys. With the death of someone like Iron Man or Captain America, I hope they'd keep them dead. They deserve a real, official send-off after all these years. MCU won't "kill" Iron Man or Captain America like that. They know that nobody will watch MCU if they kill off Iron Man or Captain America. So what they'll probably do is copy The Dark Knight Rises and give Iron Man or Captain America an ambiguous "death". That way they always have the option of bringing them back and saying they didn't really die. Heck, they already did that with Agent Coulson and Bucky. Someone dying and it'll be main character, I'll guarantee you that it will happen and it's going to be Steve Rogers.

He's chilling with a broad. They show him a few minutes after his death. In the same movie. Coulson came back in a TV show and Bucky in a sequel. Actually I can't remember any DC movie where the main hero dies, not even bvs because he uses his magic to lift some gravel. But, granted, I don't see a lot of them because they suck. Edit: remembered V for vendetta and watchmen, but they are not based on DC continuity.V for vendetta was awesome though. Nothing of that Batman or Superman bullshit.

So it could've just been Alfred imagining Bruce was still alive and gave up being Batman and just relaxing because he wants to believe that more than believing that Bruce is really dead.
But like I said, it's ambiguous and open to interpretation. That's what MCU will probably do with Iron Man and Captain America. Because they know that nobody will watch MCU if they kill off Iron Man or Captain America. So this way they always have the option of bringing them back and saying they didn't really die. No, he's alive and well, they show it in the movie in a table. Alfred sees him. And you are remembering it wrong, he doesn't look back we don't see the table again. There's no ambiguity. Batman just runs away like a coward.

He goes from wanting to die to learning to once again fear death, leading to him finally letting go of Batman and moving on.
