I first saw "ARACHNOPHOBIA" at the Movie Theater when I was 6 years old (I am 33 now) and I am still to this day afraid of Spiders.

I felt like this movie never got the recognition it deserved. It's seemed to have become a cult classic in today's day and age.

I loved the beginning. Everything else was mediocre in my opinion.

What did everyone else here think of the Movie ? I made a thread about this film a few months ago in the horror, thriller and suspense section: "Rock and roll!"Dr. Ross Jennings (Jeff Daniels) and his family has just moved away from the chaotic life in the big city in favor of the more relaxing environment in Canaima. But with the recent news that several of the inhabitants in town have a way of ending up at the morgue, leads Dr. Jennings to suspect that they might not be just another victim of unlucky circumstances, instead he feels it might be the work of an eight legged killer. One of my favorite childhood horror films, and one that used to scare me pretty good, as I had a room down in a basement that I also "shared" with a lot of big house spiders, (not dangerous for a human) but I gotta be honest, I did not enjoy their company all that much. I could handle a zombie or an elephant, as these creatures you would have little trouble knowing were around, but with a spider, now these guys could be anywhere, and sure had that frustrating talent of showing up at the wrong time, and cause a bit of chaos. Anyway, the film Arachnophobia is a fine example of a big budget horror/adventure that features a good portion of comedy, and I always have blast seeing John Goodman as the exterminator Delbert McClintock, only wished his part would have been a little bigger, cause he was on a roll. Jeff Daniels once again handles himself great as the leading man who must try to overcome his spider phobia along with proving to his fellow man that there is some weird shit going around, killing everybody. And my only "complaint" is that I felt Julian Sands were a bit wasted later on, as his character should have been allowed more screen time. Along with one of the Child's Play sequels, this film with it's beautiful artwork/poster is to be seen in Jerry Seinfeld's exclusive VHS collection. The special effects is pretty solid, well of course if you ignore the huge goofy looking one, later one that is, and I really liked the soundtrack done by Trevor Jones, as it captures that adventurous but spooky feel from the beginning of the film.

Fun movie that did a nice job of building suspense, if not actually scary. Good work all around by the cast, it's a shame it didn't really catch on during its theatrical run.

this movie kind of feels like a mix of Gremlins and Jaws. It also managed to combine them very well. Anyone else think so?
