Happy 94th Birthday, Rose Marie, on August 15, 2017. May it be a great one!

Happy Birthday Rose Marie!
Will we ever find out why she wears the bow in her hair or did she tell and I was not aware of it?

Happy Birthday Rose Marie!
Will we ever find out why she wears the bow in her hair or did she tell and I was not aware of it? From the trivia on her page "The hair bow has some personal significance on which Rose Marie has so far refused to elaborate." Page worth reading, btw Rose Marie Link Interview including about "the bow"

gunshotwoundI liked reading the snippets about her life on the trivia page. She knew Morey Amsterdam since she was nine and then got him the job on the Dick van Dyke show ! How cool was that ? What a life she has had !

Happy Birthday Rose-Marie!
And sorry for the delay!
Two day after Rose-Marie's birthday I happened to see her guest appearance on The Love Boat.
When Rose-Marie did those early Vitagraph shorts, she met Al Jolson whom she idolized, but when he opened his mouth and said something that that shouldn't be repeated, she said "you don't say such things to a 6 y/o girl" and "He wasn't nice at all", from docomentary When Sound Was Young

She started her career in vaudeville! And she's still kicking! Awesome! She has a very active Twitter account and I've just started watching her on The Dick Van Dyke Show, which I hadn't seen at all until now. She gets to strut her stuff on it too, quite a lot. Oh, and happy belated birthday.

Perhaps the only living star of a Vitaphone vaudeville short? Well, singer Abbe Lane (born 1932) appeared in a 1938 Warner Bros. Vitaphone short called Toyland Casino. Not as impressive as Rose Marie, considering the relatively late date, but still worth mentioning. I think she's the little girl who sings in the beginning (1:55 minute mark in the linked video).

I bet she would enjoy knowing that we are still celebrating her birth ! Imagine this :
Rose Marie is talking to Saint Peter at the Golden Gates and she says :
Nope. Not going to tell even you what the little black bow means !
