Its not completely bad. Some shots were really cool and the first battle was very well done. But the story, the acting and everything else was not so good. Matt Damon wasnt very good. The woman general was only there to create some sort of love interest but that was never really pursued and there was really no character develepmont what so ever.

The presence of a random white man as the lead in ancient China in a film that SHOULD have an all Chinese cast baffles me. This is just Hollywood straight up admitting "We have no faith in a film set in ancient China being able to do well in theaters without Mighty Whitey." Why they didn't just hire Jet Li or someone similar is beyond me.

The time period is a mess in the film. Emperor and everyone else dress like in Tang Dynasty (707-907 AD) but the capital is Bianliang so the time period is Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1278 AD). Does everyone have gun powder in the 12/13th century?

I saw the trailer and was not impressed.
If I understand correctly, the premise of the movie is that the Great Wall was built to keep dragons out of China. Um, couldn't the dragons just fly over the wall?!?

I don't remember asking for a sequel to 47 Ronin.

Watched it last night and thought it would have been better suited as a TV movie. There were a couple of nice, funny moments between Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon but those weren't enough to save this film which generally suffered from bad storytelling, average dialogue and terrible CGI.
It wasn't great.

My best friend treated me to it for my birthday last week. I thought it was an entertaining popcorn movie, which is what I went in expecting. After all one shouldn't expect a movie dealing with monsters to be The King's Speech. Not that there's anything wrong with The King's Speech or monster movies for that matter.

I watched this last night and couldn't figure out why there's so much hate for it. I thought it was a solid enjoyable movie. Not going to win any awards and I'm not saying it was a great movie, but I don't think it ever planned to be anything more than an enjoyable one - which it accomplished. Action was good, visuals were beautiful, plot was simple but wasn't stupid or suffered from too many plotholes (though there were a few silly things in there). So yeah, don't know why people are hating on this so much.

Saw it yesterday and thought the cinematography and visual were exceptional. I also like monster movies anyway...admittedly the story line wasn't great and Matt Damon seemed to sleepwalk through it ( I thought that he was totally miscast) but hey! It was entertaining enough if not taken too seriously and visually spectacular

I'm very nervous to spend money on this film, namely for Matt Damon in the lead role. Any thoughts on that?

Does everyone have gun powder in the 12/13th century? The first known image/painting of a gunpowder weapon was made painted around 900 AD.
