Gives too much of a Roger Moore vibe for my taste..Can we just clone Timothy Dalton, hyper age him to around 35 and give him the appropriate shot his progenitor should have gotten ?... We can do that now, correct ?... You're kidding right? Dalton was the worst Bond of all Right back at ya...Are You Kidding ?...Dalton was the most complete Bond ever...

Unless his acting skills are better than we have seen so far, I say no. Besides, it's time for a woman to play 007.

He's going to be more seasoned (and look older) when he'd be potentially playing the role. He looks too young now, and I don't care for depressed Superman. If he was made-up to look his actual age when playing the role, I think it would work. While as I said above, Connery is Bond to me, I think Brosnan's Bond came across very believable in the age department. Give Henry a couple wrinkles (that he probably has without the Superman makeup) and I think it changes the game.
Like Daniel Craig, whom I first saw in "Layer Cake" before hearing he was going to take on 007, I'd like to see Cavill in a couple of non-Superman roles first. I really dislike how Superman is written in all the movies since Cavill jumped in, but I do tend to think he's doing the best with what they gave him and he's not phoning it in.
@weirdraptor I'm with you. I want a fun Bond again. There is a snarky humor once in a while that comes through in even depressed Superman that gives me hope he could pull it off. Then again, Daniel Craig has good comedic timing as well...in scenes that employ comedy...which are severely lacking in modern 007. For whatever reason, they write Craig's Bond to be way too gloomy. He seems melancholy even in the middle of having a great time with some fantastic looking women. I think his Bond suffers from misguided writing. Understood on fleshing out the backstory, but I want shiny cars and shit eating grins again for a while.

Curious as to which woman you'd cast...and also why it is so important for 007 to be a woman. I'd see a woman-uber-spy movie no problem, but would rather see a new character...even in the same universe...008 or something. There's an inherent misogyny to James Bond that is deeply cemented in the character. I'm not sure would transfer were the sexes reversed. I'm not sexist or ripping on your idea, just curious as to why it's time for 007 to be cast as a woman. Come to think of it, I think a story about the current 'M' in her early days as a similar kind of agent could be an extremely interesting story. Dench puts out a vibe of being a badass in days past...I'd see that for sure...

While he might not be a bad choice i think he's too affiliated with Superman which mostly eliminates him from even being considered for the James Bond role. i think that stuff above likely keeps him out of the conversation regardless of whether he could play the Bond role well or not. p.s. i liked him in The Man from UNCLE/Man of Steel as both within my Top 247 movies and Man of Steel would be my #1 super hero movie at this point. outrider127I would say that goes to George Lazenby overall. main reason i say that is because his overall presence never excelled at being suave or tough as Lazenby was just okay-ish at both (i.e. like not bad, but not really good either) where as the rest of the Bond actors did at least one of those two things well. even looking at Dalton... i think he had the tough angle down pretty well and, while not as obviously suave as say Connery or Brosnan(as they naturally give off that suave vibe), he could do it okay enough when needed here and there. but with that said... i think on a mainstream level that Dalton's Bond movies seem to fly off the radar as i doubt they are as popular to the casual Bond movie fan as much as say Connery/Moore/Brosnan and probably Craig to. so i am not surprised to see some negative comments towards Dalton (NOTE: personally i think his Licence to Kill (1989) (8/10) is my #3 Bond movie of ALL of the Bond movies). p.s. for the record... i like Lazenby's only Bond movie.

Why such the great need to recycle, remake, and reboot? There have been dozens, if not hundreds of great spy novels/series written since Fleming's books. Most of the Bond movies had nothing to do with the original books other than stealing the title and character. Why not do something new and original? I realize I would never make it in Hollywood with such radical and heretic thinking. "James Bond" is a known brand name that is thought will always bring in the numbers on name recognition alone. Just remember what happened when they tried to make "New Coke".

Cavill was already in talks for the Bond role once. He was considered for Casino Royale, but the producers deemed him too young.

They want him to be Jason Bourne from the recent loose film adaptations of the book starring Matt Damon. They've been copying that series since Craig's inception, frankly not understanding that James Bond and Jason Bourne (and I just now noticed their names begin with the same letters) are not the same thing.

But Cavill doesn't have to play brooding. You do realize Man of Steel Clark and Cavill aren't the same person right? He's a character written by Goyer and Directed by Snyder. As 007 they can write/direct him charismatic and charming (Like he was in The Tudors).

Go through life missing out on good things because you hold a grudge about a film. I hate "Ant-Man" but I still watch Paul Rudd films. I hate "Larger than Life" but that doesn't stop me from watching Bill Murray films. By that logic, you'll never watch a Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishborne film ever again huh?

I don't like how his Superman is written, but I think he's doing his best to sell the hell out of it. I think Cavill's a tremendous actor and think he's got some comedic talents we don't see much of in his stint as Superman. I don't dislike Craig in the role at all...quite like him actually. A new iteration of Bond played by someone like Cavill could bring it round back to less Bourne, more Bond...I think anyway... Cavill's my wife's 'hall pass.' She says he's got 'the best irresistible asshole smile since Harrison Ford.' If that isn't Bond, I don't know what is.
