I just saw the film on DVD, today... I bought it because Rhonda Fleming was in the movie... ...and I love time travel stories. Ms. Fleming was fantastic, and seeing Bing Crosby's character introducing a bit of the 20th century to people living in the past was fun... But, despite listening to Ms. Fleming's beautiful singing voice, I found the musical concept of this movie to be rather boring and pointless. I found it interesting that there were some similarities with the movie: "Somewhere In Time" (1980) , which is one of my favorite movies... - We see a painting of Ms. Fleming's character at the beginning of the film... - There is an special object that travels though time, which Ms. Fleming's character gives to Mr. Crosby's character... - Mr. Crosby's character travels into the past in a without a Machine or without using some Time/Space phenomenon. - Mr. Crosby's character returns to the present in a similar fashion... - Ms. Fleming's character wants Mr. Crosby's character to stay with her, as she watches him disappear.

Yeah, this was the one I was most familiar with. Cedric Hardwicke in a music number!
Merlin is never portrayed well in these adaptations, either a narrow-minded fathead, a villain, or both. T.H. White's version would have bonded well with the Connecticut Yankee.
Anyone see the 1931 Will Rodgers version? That one had a climax involving knights, racketeer machine-guns, automobiles, a tank, and a helicopter! That one had its television premiere on the Disney Channel in 1993!

It felt like a missed opportunity.
There was one touchy moment when Bing watches a sick kid die, instead of feeling sorry they went out singing "Busy Doing Nothing"

For those wondering why the OP seems kind of random, with just a pic from the film, it was originally posted in anticipation of the much-hyped solar eclipse of last summer.
