I dont see any similarities so dont get the comparison. On top of that TD only had one good season.

I dont see any similarities so dont get the comparison. On top of that TD only had one good season. both are anthology shows, both involve crime.

I skipped the supposedly bad season of True Detective, but even then I think all three seasons of Fargo are superior to TD season 1. Not that it was bad, I just didn't get the hype outside of McCon's performance.

Fargo because it has been consistently good all the way through.

Very easy for me, definitely Fargo. Great series that combines humor, crime, drama and layered characters. True Detective I thought was good, but over rated in season 1. I then thought season 2 was underrated even though it was far from great. Both seasons were overly bleak and missed a well rounded group of characters.

Fargo. TD was good for only the first season, then the writer ran out of material and it turned to crap. I speculate that these aspiring writers work away for years on their pet projects in obscurity. Then it gets picked up and they get a series...and BAM...a big hit. But they blew their load on the first season, which had been honed to perfection for years. And now they have to come up with a second season for the big cash-in, and they got nothin'.
Obviously this isn't always the case, just my guess.

I thought that the first seasons of both were stunning because of the quality of the leading actors. Billy Bob, Martin Freeman, etc and McConaughey and Harrelson. Second season of True Detective was a mess apart from Vince Vaughan and the only thing that redeemed season 2 of Fargo was Zahn McClarnon
