You kept denying it

You kept playing it down

You kept finding excuses

And now you are shocked


You could not close your eyes

“jews will not replace us”

You could not cover your ears

“Blood and soil”


You were shocked

You were angry

It was real

It was here


Living under the skin

Skin of your brethrens

Carriers they are

Carriers of hatred


Having gone underground

It had lain dormant in their hearts

Raising its ugly head once in a while

Thus barely noticed it had spread


You were warned

But you did not want to hear

You were told

But you did not want to listen


Now you are asking questions

Now you are paying attention

Now you believe in its existence

Now you know it never went away


It waited patiently

for the right primer

And having found it

It’s overflowing now


The pump has been primed
