I know everybody loves the 70s remake, I didn't care for it, I have the 90s remake but haven't seen it yet, I'll never watch the '07 version, I love the original, always have.

Both the 1956 and 1978 versions are great, in my opinion.

I was actually unaware there more than 2 versions, thought there was just 1956 and 1978. I saw the 1978 first when I was a teenager later much later the original. Re-watching the 1978 version left me rather disappointed.

Abel Ferrara's 1993 version is best forgotten. It reduces the '78 version's subtext to "military is bad ok" and has some really bad acting too.

The original 1956 film is terrific. However, I prefer the '78 version, it's one of the very few instances where a remake surpasses the original. I was very disappointed in Ferrara's take. The '07 film was just so-so.

I like all of the versions as they bring something a little different to the table. I have a soft spot for the original. First "scary" movie I saw as a kid around 11.
I can see how some see it as dated and corny. But I love classic movies.

Assimilate (2019), available on Netflix, is a newer, more teeny-bop version of this same classic tale. I had no idea when I first started watching it, then suddenly I realized I was watching a remake.

Was that the one just called The Invasion with Kidman and Craig? Yeah I hated that one. The '78 remake is okay but I really liked the '56 film a lot.

I enjoy the '56 original. A '98 flick called The Faculty is a fun take on the concept.

Love the first and second one a lot. Different ways of telling the story, and both very intriguing and suspenseful. Never saw the third one, so can't comment.
