"From now on, nothing goes down unless I'm involved. No blackjack no dope deals, no nothing. A nickel bag gets sold in the park, I want in. You guys got fat while everybody starved on the street. Now it's my turn." After spending several years of his life in prison, the former mobster boss Frank White (Christopher Walken) decides to return to his old playground then only to learn that the rules of the streets have changed dramatically since his last visit. And if he wants to get back in on the action he must gather along his old crew, and fast, because every rival gangs and corrupt cops seems to be watching his every move, and Frank knows that if he wants to become the King Of New York again, he must take care of the competition before they take him out.Abel Ferrara's King Of New York might not be as glamorous or well produced as some of the other gangster films at that time, but then again it would probably not have sit well with the style that Abel was after, and instead he made a much more dirty or gritty looking film, with lots of bad ass action scenes and highly memorable quotes. Christopher Walken in the role as Frank White are easily up there among with the very best roles of his career. The film also made great use by having a solid and explosive cast of young and talentful actors such as Laurence Fishburne, David Caruso, Wesley Snipes, Steve Buscemi, Theresa Randle and the veteran Victor Argo who all contributes to make sure that King of New York became one of the best and most action filled gangster films of the early 90s.

Abel Ferrara has shown a knack for assembling formidable casts but this one takes the cake. Terrific movie.
