Remember when there were a lot of threads on Music General called Gloria? Was it really that good of a song?

There were at least two songs named Gloria. One by Laura Branigan, the other by Them and famously covered by the Shadows of Knight. The latter was a likable song that was easy to play and hence a staple for aspiring bands in the 60s. It was said that if you dropped a guitar down a flight of stairs it would play the three chords (E-D-A) before it reached bottom.

I really like that Laura Brannigan song. Good stuff. I'm also a U2 and Van Morrison fan though.

That song was also in the film Flashdance (1983) ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) . Flashdance (1983) - Jeanie's Skate Scene It seemed like she was doing excellent until those last two tumbles - poor Jeanie ![:-S](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wavey.png) . Unfortunately I can't launch video at the moment but I"m looking forward to checking that out later. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Which reminds me I forgot to do a DVR search to record that movie.

The Gants, from Greenwood Mississippi, were the first band to cover "Gloria" (the one that matters). I personally prefer it to the SOK version.
