I finally watched M. Night Shayamalaman's film Split and it's really entertaining and suspenseful with a wonderful performance by James McVoy but the final act ruined big part of the film.
It was a Silence of the lambs style of film almost the whole time till
What a stupid idea that was. That was idiotic beyond belief. everything was running smoothly and with such a great peace even the final confrontation was going so well with Kevin turning off the lights so Casey couldn't see while shooting and when she shot him ohhh the bullets don't affect him.
what a crap that was.
everything was going sooooo well till that stupid final arc.

unbreakable? because the idea is that he's kind of like real life a comic book supervillain, like bruce willis was a super hero in unbreakable.
Nooo, ive never seen unbreakable but if making Kevin a sort of Super Villain it makes more sense but still this gets me out of the picture. i was expecting a deep drama/thriller about this condition and taking this in a more real tone and the ending took me out my ideal thriller.
I think the series Chance from Hulu touched this subject much better and was more sublte in the change of personalities between Jackie and Jacklyn and explained much better how the second personality came up

The ending is why I like the movie a lot, especially the reveal/twist after the title card.
I noticed that you said you haven't seen Unbreakable (Even the name "Split" is the opposite of the title Unbreakable) and if you haven't seen that movie the ending won't make any sense. I feel bad for anyone who watched Split without having seen Unbreakable first, especially on it's original release (It also makes this one of the most interesting comebacks ever). It adds a whole other layer to the film that is genius imo. It makes everything fall into place, especially the monster stuff. It is basically a super villain origin story like Unbreakable was a super hero origin story. Hence the name "The Hoard" that the news people give his character at the end. Before the reveal the monster stuff comes off as a bit silly and out of place but after the reveal it makes total sense within a world of superheroes and super villains.
It is also one of the most clever twists ever because the twist is that it is a sequel.

So do you recomend me to watch unbreakable and then re watch split.? Im gonna look for unbreakable, i do like Bruce Willis a lot and loved the sixth sense so i bet i will like that one.

if you're going to get the bluray, get the UK edition since the US edition has an audio issue. also it's on HBO on demand, and funnily enough had been watching it on numerous occasions before even knowing about the Split connection.

I would defintely recommend watching Unbreakable and not just so Split will make more sense. Unbreakable is a good movie and that is why you should watch it. I would also definitely re-watch Split after seeing Unbreakable. It certainly won't have the same effect as seeing Unbreakable first because the reveal at the end of Split is much better when you have no idea it's coming. Kind of like watching The Sixth Sense for the first time after the twist has already been spoiled for you.

I'm curious, did you not see any of the trailers for Split? The beast transformation aspect is heavily hinted at in the trailers. You expected a more realitic take on DID but that was never what Split was meant to be. Split is a fantasy about the monster inside that is born out of suffering.
how about we keep the Unbreakable twist safe from her?
also it's available for rental on vudu for 4.
Why would you think I would give it away? I only gave away the Split twist becasue some people above already gave it away without a spoiler and the OP has already seen the movie.

I watched a tv spot or clip on YouTube before a video i wanted to see which presented just the kidnaping part and him having many personalities but didn't see the beast hint. I probably wouldn't have had the same interest in watching the film if i knew it was an origins story of a super villain.
I expected something more in the lines of sixth sense which might have a few supernatural elements but having more depth or something like silence of the lambs. i expected a more serious thriller hehe maybe if i watch it the second time for what it is, im gonna like it more. The same happened to me with gone girl but in a different way.
witn Gone girl I didn't watch any trailers beforehand but anyway the first half seemed like it was gonna be a sort of sleeing with the Enemy but with a more A list cast and director and found it much more intriguing before the twist.
I was like nooooooo, i wanted an unofficial Sleeping with Enemy remake and i got so disappointed by the second half then re watched the film and liked more for what it really was. It was a great twist its just i was mad that it took a whole different direction than the one i wanted the film to take.
