asking about theater popcorn sizes and which format i saw the Wizard of Oz in isn't exactly extrapolating based on taste...
it put me a decade too old.

Some of the questions were too obvious that they were going to a dead giveaway. It says "Can we guess your age from your taste in movies" but half the questions had nothing to do with taste.
I am a bit surprised that they got my age EXACTLY right though.

I am a bit surprised that they got my age EXACTLY right though. That's most likely why it's a really easy quiz here movieman   . IMPO - I believe it's more targeted towards mental maturity with each different generation and also with a big hint of nostalgia too   . Also at the same time it's not always very exact as I have noticed on past MeTV Quizzes that I have done and posted here on these other boards as well . My result score was actually 3 years behind my real age for a switch mine usually is decades older on the other past quizzes . Yet I still finds these clever and fun just the same here  . BTW - Excellent result score here too movieman and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did also . Thanks movieman for your reply  . |

It give me 70 years old. I'm 34. I really don't know this of course  . Perhaps it could have been you quiz question choices were on the old school side ? Like mine usually are on these quizzes . That has happened to me with these other past quizzes too one quiz had me over two decades older than my real age ( which I actually found it to be highly complimentary to my mind here ) . They got me at 61. That doesn't surprise me. A lot of us prefer things from a previous generation because in a lot of cases it's just better. Thanks mszanadu for another quiz to help soften the Monday blaaaahs. Even though it was posted Saturday but it's new to me today.  |

IMPO - I believe barkingbaphomet on this quiz it's just to figure out which particular decade you either lived through or just possibly remembered well . Since sizes or prices of particular products like popcorn and movie tickets have changed a lot and possibly with each new decade ( and so many times over years that I have noticed as well )  . IMPO - Also the Wizard of Oz question was quite accurate because not everyone would have seen it at the movie theater when it was brand new ( only exception being - but it gave no indication on this quiz would be a special showing of this film at a selected theater ? ) . As I mentioned here before these quizzes are meant to be fun and are not always exact with it's results either . I hope you were able to still enjoy it anyway . I'm 25, but figured I'd get an older age based on my taste. Wasn't sure what to answer on the "definitive blockbuster" question. I was 6 when Titanic came out, so not sure if that counts as "my generation", but it sure as hell had a bigger impact on me than Avatar. EDIT: I did it again picking Avatar (ugh), and still got 61, so guess it doesn't matter.

Just a wild guess also at this point perhaps it's because there was a few more older movie selections on these quiz questions and assumed everyone was going to be older than they actual were  .
