What the? I am old enough to remember when tv shows had like 22 episodes per year.
And since I'm getting stuff off my chest-- They are paying these GOT people way too much money. If you could make $20M for 7 episodes of work, what incentive would you ever have after that to do any more work than that?

Yeah, they have rushed the hell out of this season. It should have been 10 episodes. If they needed more time then they should have postponed the season even further. Better to wait and get quality, then get this rushed condensed version. It is such a shame.

I think either the contracts need renegotiated or the powers that be just wanted to move on to other things.

If this season is any basis it will be unfullfilling. Everything feels so rushed that there's hardly any time to care about it before it moves on to the next thing. Great moments sure, but not as drawn in as I've been last season or for the first few. I hope I'm wrong mind you.

If you could make $20M for 7 episodes of work, what incentive would you ever have after that to do any more work than that? I imagine the actors' price tag is why the episodes were reduced. Considering the characters this season were practically teleporting, it probably could have gone the full 10.

Nonsense. It's the other way around, of course. Which part? I'm confused. The price per episode the actors got was a consequence of the number of episodes. The writers had decided on the number of episodes based on the amount of story they have left to tell and it was long before any contract renegotiations occurred. They always spoke of 7 seasons (70 episodes) and extended it to 73 in 8 seasons, likely for the sake of fitting in extended action sequences made possible by the budget increase.

GOT is pushing into well over an hour at this point. As for incentive to do more work? Well, that only matters if all you care about is the money. Some people enjoy acting for a living. Heck, there have been actors who've taken huge paycuts to work on a project.

The answer is you don't. Unless all the episodes are like atleast 2 hours. This season could have easily been 10 episodes and dealt with the walkers.

I agree, these shortened seasons are terribly frustrating. They easily could have had 10 episodes this season without losing any quality.
Does anybody know why they're rushing through like this?

As for incentive to do more work? Well, that only matters if all you care about is the money. Because most people obviously don't care about the money. Yeah, and those are not the ones who say they won't return unless they get almost $3 million per episode of a freakin tv show.

It's possible to enjoy the money and the work. And hey, if the show's a huge hit and an actor's a big part of it, why not ask for more? Don't we all want a raise for doing a job we like?
