I would like an honest opinion and not just troll answers. I personally don't really care much for War themed films outside of a couple here and there like Saving Private Ryan. I also was not a huge fan of Captain American The First Avenger which Wonder Woman seems to be compared most often.
So I'm asking you DC fans, knowing these things about my tastes is this film worth buying or should I wait a few weeks when I can just rent it for 4 bucks?

It's considered a historic milestone in the CBM genre. But in the end it's only a silly CBM with a neat message.
Given your relative indifference towards this film so far, your disposition in taste and your seemingly modest monetary means I'd say it's safe to wait for the 4 bucks opportunity for a few more months.
WW will be there for long, trust me, it can wait.

Thank you for this opinion. I was nervous I'd be bombarded with Wonder Woman is the next Oscar winner type of stances. Me personally I don't care much for the Oscar movies. But thank you, I appreciate your response. I'm leaning towards waiting.

In terms of being a war film, it's nowhere near the type of detail you get in Saving Private Ryan. There's a trench with maybe a couple dozen people in the battle total, and a village with maybe a couple dozen people living there.
Wonder Woman is almost shot for shot a remake of the first Thor and Captain America, and it's story is far more simplified than either of those two.
It is not more mature than First Avenger as the previous poster suggested and it is not considered a milestone either. He can only be referring to the fact that it has a female lead, however the genre has had numerous female leads from Alien, to Catwoman, to Elektra, to Resident Evil, to Underworld and tons of others. Other than that, there is nothing groundbreaking going on in this film.
It's well made overall (except for the ending), but it's also very simple, and not a whole lot to rewatch so it's not one that I would ever buy.

the wartime themes are a bit more muted than you may've been led to believe. barring a particular interest in the character or more exhaustive lean towards superheroes in general i'd say it's a rental.

The fish out of water theme is just as prevalent as the war theme. It's probably closer to Splash than it is to Saving Private Ryan. WW1 is the backdrop, but the film is more about WW trying to understand the "new" world around her
Decent film on first viewing. A bit boring on second.

Rent it first. Buy it if you enjoy it that much.

It was a cinematic triumph that far surpasses any MCU film. It does share some similarities with the first Cap and Thor films, but it executes these ideas SOOO much better.
It's also the second best CBM this year. Logan is still #1 though.

I would say rent it to see if you like it, I got it today and saw it for the first time and was very underwhelmed by the film, so I kind of wish I rented it as it's not a film I feel I'm going to need or even want to rewatch much, that's not to say it's a bad film but it was imo way overhyped.

It is overhyped but definitely watchable and a lot of fun.

Ummm I'd say yes, I liked it quite a bit, but if you've never seen it.... maybe wait because for all you know you may end up hating it.

I will buy the BR as soon as it's out. It's together with Logan the best CBM so far and in quite a while.
But it may not satisfy male nerd power fantasies as much as other films in that genre. It's directed at women and non-CBM fans as well, and thus broader in its appeal. It's more a thoughtful, exploratory film about the human condition and the nature of aggression than the usual PG13 clobber orgy. I loved it.

I would say rent it first and then buy the movie if you enjoy it. I have made the mistake of buying some awful movies like 'Killjoy' I didn't like at all before watching them and it is better to watch a movie before buying it unless the only way you can see the movie is by buying it.
