Maybe forums could be set up into either genres or chronologically, and the users could add films to them when the occasion arises. Probably wouldn't have all the data that IMDb provided, but it would be a start, and data could be added as they developed.

I'm afraid, yes. But I wouldn't be surprised if they bring it back later or somewhat modernize.

Yeah they're definitely going ahead with it but I think there is a reason why this has happened other than what they were telling us. They can't have been so little traffic, on the TWD boards there was somebody posting every couple of minutes. Exactly. I think they are full of shit when they claim the boards don't generate much traffic. I think it's arguable that the boards generate the most traffic. Think about it. Someone looking for the name of a movie or actor comes in, finds that information, and leaves. We spend hours there a day. Every time we click on a new page or even refresh the same page, that's another hit to their website. We are responsible for thousands a day.

My routine WAS: watch a movie, go to imdb's main page, then immediately hit the message boards, to get the REAL scoop on the movie instead of garbage from those damned controlled "reviews"; then maybe I would add a comment or two if I felt like it, mostly to warn others pointing out bad work. Afterwards I might hit the trivia section and other sections. So there, count the 'clicks' right there. Sometimes I would do that several times in a single day. They don't want anyone but themselves telling everybody else what a certain movie is REALLY about. Instead they're trying to shut us all up, and whatever we think about a movie should now be a damned facebook post or a blasted "tweet" in their opinion. I'm just waiting around for ONE single person to back me up with the project I have in mind. We'll see then how much 'control' they can ever force on us again.

Is they're going to do be anything to at IMDb once they close down the boards? Will People still be able to write reviews and create lists?
I'm not sure I want them benefiting from anything I wrote if they don't let me offer any future input and interact with people. As far as I'm concerned, I might as well delete my account if that is the case.

I'm not really sure the point of even having an account is without the message boards. I guess you could still build your watchlist and post your favorite films on your profile.

Will People still be able to write reviews and create lists? Yes but other users will have a hard time to find your lists because IMDb kills any communication devices.

In fact, if you go to 'parent' Amazon's movies to read the reviews/feedback for each movie they sell, all sorts of terrible movies get great reviews (like 4.5 stars out of 5).

That's exactly what they're after and I saw right through them. Regarding movies, a long time back I learned that the only reliable way to weigh a movie here on the internet was to hit the boards, let INDIVIDUALS tell you exactly what they thought of the movie. No reviews, no "votes". And about "trolls", one thing I've learned over time is that it is very easy to place a tag on any user and call him a "troll". I'm sure that to amazon a "troll" will be ANY user who interferes with their bottom line. The same goes for forum boards. Users who 'refused to play along' on imdb were tagged as "trolls", and sometimes by a group of other users too. Right here on this new forum at least one user started to imply that I might be such a "troll". And that's how it starts, the 'censorship' and the underhanded abuse. Amazon, imdb and such people will not rest until they manage to isolate individual critical thought as much as they can, because usually critical thinking crushes their bottom line when their products are bad.

IMDb and the media are still pissy that WE, the actual viewing audience took down Ghostbusters-In-Name-Only and other SJWs passion projects that they wanted to sell us so badly. I am PROUD to say that when Josh Trank, director of FANT4STIC bitched and moaned about people being "mean" to him I WAS ONE OF THEM, lambasting the movie left and right for an entire year, Variety even wrote an article about us, mentioning us for being "trolls". But I feel like an American Hero, sparing my fellow cinema fans from such a monstrosity. What is your project?

Here's the post I made the same day I came here to this board: imdb2.freeforums.net/thread/506/idea-secure-movie-data-future... after I created the "blog". I don't like "blogs", personally, but that was the quickest thought I got.

I Could say exactly 'How' in one sentence, but I won't paste it here in the forums because I'm not giving those 'amazon' greedy snake people any ideas. The basic proposition's outline is in this post: imdb2.freeforums.net/thread/506/idea-secure-movie-data-futureBasically it says "let's talk about it if you're REALLY interested, but not here", and then it points to a blogspot webpage I made in a hurry: cm33sx.blogspot.comThat's about it.
