The Earthling William Holden Ricky SchroderThe title is misleading, it isn't science fiction about outer space. A family is vacationing in Australia in an RV. While the son is out of the RV it goes over a cliff killing both parents. He must survive in the wilderness of Australia. He meets an old man who teaches him how to survive.

I saw the beginning of that movie once but unfortunately never got to see it all. It was being shown late at night and I couldn't stay up too late because I had a morning job then. It looked interesting though.

....sounds a little like "The Emerald Forest" I haven't seen The Emerald Forest but from what IMDb says about it I think it is similar. The Earthling has great scenery that is actually from Australia.

It looked interesting though. I saw it on television several years ago and it left enough impression for me to remember it all this time later. The great nature scenes were what drew me in at first.

Cool. The last first-time viewing I've had was this piece of crap: Shocking Dark, aka Terminator II (1989).Despite the attempt to pass it off as a sequel to The Terminator, and while it does have moments borrowed from that movie, this is in fact a blatant ripoff of another James Cameron movie, Aliens. While set in an abandoned science base in a post-apocalyptic Venice, much of the film tries to imitate scenes, characters, situations, from Aliens, but with a real low budget. And surprisingly little gore. Stargate was scarier and bloodier than this hilarious shitfest. 👍

The information on IMDb is probably more accurate and detailed, but I think the filmmakers of The Earthling got permission and other help from Australian authorities that made the movie much better visually at least if not in other ways.
