I always like to hear about what sports people do and how they enjoy it.
I do a bit of box and muay-thai and recently picked up pole dancing too (which surprisingly enough is the most challenging out of the three for me) Always wanted to try fencing, but never got around to it. Or ice hockey. Maybe one day.
What sports do you do and why did you pick that particular sport? I am doing mine to get into a better shape. But I wouldn't mind having a fight set up one day and compete.

You are an interesting person Nora.
I wouldn't say that I "do" any sports right now. I attempt to exercise, I am a shell of my former self due to some health problems, but don't participate in any organized activities anymore. I was an avid weightlifter for years, but am beat up and can't go at it like I used to.
Growing up, I played a lot of soccer and baseball, with a little bit of basketball and hockey. I also dabbled in martial arts for a bit as a kid and an adult. I've taken tae kwon do, Aikido, Brazilian jujitsu, and Kempo. I occasionally hit my heavy bag, but have to watch the intensity level, because if I go to hard it hurts my hands.
I always thought fencing sounded kind of cool, but I didn't know if it was the kind of thing you could do as a hobby. I don't really want to compete, but I would love to learn how to sword fight.
Pole dancing is probably the hardest because you are literally holding your body weight in a variety of positions.

I went to a few lessons on it and did enjoy it (although it takes some time getting used to how incredibly close you are with the opponent, a lot of very "intimate" physical contact) and probably will go back to it at some point. You are right about pole dancing. I didn't really realize it before trying it. I am also incredibly bruised from it. Climbing up or doing spins often leaves marks on your ankles, chins, thighs, arms… they say that with time and repetition you condition your body and your skin to take it better and eventually it doesnt burn/hurt/bruise. I cant wait for that to happen, not enjoying walking around looking like a domestic violence victim

When I lived in Jersey I had a table tennis club very near me so I joined for like 6 months and went there a lot and thats a sport I really really enjoy. Never got to be any good really but I loved it. Maybe I should pick it up again. Thx for the inspiration.

Re athletic stuff I hike, bike, go to the gym/do weightlifting, do martial arts (a bunch of different styles, and I particularly like teachers/schools that combine styles), and I play a bit of very casual/non-competitive racquetball and tennis (usually our objective is to keep the ball going back and forth as long as possible). I've been doing all of that stuff all of my life more or less. Hiking and biking I've been really consistent with. The other stuff has been kind of off and on depending on circumstances, including that I've had to travel a lot. But even when traveling, I've made a point of hiking and biking as much as I can. On the road as a musician, I always pack a bike along with our musical gear.
I also like diving and snorkeling, but I haven't done it regularly for awhile.
Other than that, I played baseball from little league through the first couple years of university, but I haven't played since then. I wasn't really good enough to attempt it professionally. I'm much better at music, and that was always my priority.

So i only played it on a junior level.

None, but I go for a lot of walks. I walk to the local shops, and sometimes just walk for the sake of walking. I sometimes take photos using old cameras when on these walks. I've even used cameras over 70 years old on these walks. For example, earlier in the year I took these photos using the 1930s camera, the Kodak Baby Brownie, while on a walk to the local shops

Matthew the Swordsman Awesome! i love that you take photos on your walks. With vintage cameras furthermore. Nice combination of two hobbies. And walking is supposed to be one of the healthiest sports anyways..

I also have to add that I found it very hard to learn. I did it for a year and only really got good at defense and escaping. The only people I could submit were the ones that I was physically stronger than.

Ice skating (I LOVE Ice skating and a lot of my friends think I should do it professionally)
Horse Riding (I have a horse that lives on my Aunt and Uncle's farm and I love riding him and have been riding horses all my life)
both things I would like to learn one day. Ice skating when done well looks so graceful…

I tried it for a few lessons and the one thing that I took aways from it was that sex with someone who is well versed in Brazilian jiu jitsu would have to be A-mazing. the way these people can handle a person. mmm.
