It would seem that someone complained and called it spamming, which was not true.

It would seem that someone complained and called it spamming, which was not true. Agreed; it is not true. So, if someone posts frequently, they get confined to having just one thread? That doesn't seem fair. For the record, my original post: Emphasis added for clarity.

Well, it certainly wasn't me who complained to Admin. Matter of fact, I was just working on my next song to post here. If there's room for a bombardment of thefleetsin's hateful slop poems every day, seems like there ought to be room for my reasonably-funny parody songs once in a while.

I disagree with this decision; fleetsin was criticized, answered in a peaceful, non-offensive way, and the thread was locked. Seems like there is no free speech here.

Seems like there is no free speech here. Don't be silly. The thread was locked because I didn't want a religious debate in the suggestion board. ps. Free speech doesn't extend to private entities.

It is not against free speech to restrict activities of Fleetsin or any other member here. It will be against free speech if fleetsin was not permitted to make a board for himself with his own rules. You don't see fleet's poems as spamming is your personal opinion. I am extremely happy at Admin's decision.

It should probably be noted that his poems were not deleted. Some of the most recent ones were simply consolidated into a single thread. I didn't move them all simply because there are too many, but he is still free to post them in the existing thread, which will be bumped with every addition. So the "free speech" argument in this case is moot, regardless of validity or lack thereof.

In my personal opinion every member of a community has a duty. You have permitted people to create off topic threads but that does not mean people should abuse that freedom to fill the board with their own threads that do not receive replies and add to the board in a constructive way. Yesterday when I logged in I saw that 9 of the first 10 threads on RFS were made by only 2 members and all of them were off topic. Such things can be very off putting.

That's kind of what I had in mind when I decided to consolidate thefleetsin's poems. If I were looking for religious discussion, a quick skim of the first two pages would not have compelled me to post here. When I say I'm not overly concerned with off-topic posts, the stress is on "overly."

I agree with the decision.
I am one of those who called thefleetsin's posting style "spamming". If the first page is clogged with posts that don't really warrant a reply, it makes the board hard to read.
One of the first things I did upon reading the decision was to remove thefleetsin from my ignore list.

Just for information purposes, on another board where i posted (not the old IMDB board) a long time poster nicely asked fleet if he would mind putting all his poems in one thread so he didn't clutter the board. He replied "no problem" and within the next five minutes showed how spiteful and childish he is by posting about 15 or 16 poems each with its own thread.

Free speech doesn't extend to private entities. That's as idiotic as claiming "free speech" doesn't include "hate speech". Of course it does. That's the whole point.

Ah, I see what you were talking about via PM.
My unimportant, subjective thoughts:
1) I think his "poetry" is painfully bad 2) Even when he tries to write normally it reads like a freshman creative writing student trying to use every archaic adjective at once 3) I logged in a couple of days ago and was struck by the fact that around 3/4 of the visible screen was his "poetry" - he must've just done a c/p dump or something. 4) If an admin cruised by and saw that, and weren't familiar with fleet's years-long Quixotic assault on the language, they might have thought it was spam of some sort (I mean, usually when you see 15+ threads spring up sequentially under the same name on one of the other boards it's someone being a choad.) 5) Bad as I think it is, as knee-jerk emotionally-driven "anti-religious-everything" as he is, and as ham-handed and ludicrously bigoted as many of his efforts have been, none of this stuff should matter on a forum wherein you can use ignore.
Summary of the above: Meh.
Edit: This is not a "free speech" issue. Unless you feel that someone should be able to do as they please in your living room, then you shouldn't feel they should be able to do it in an owned domain.
