Novels adapted into plays that were then turned into films.
To begin:
Henry James' novel, "Washington Square," was adapted into the play The Heiress, which later became a film.
Christopher Isherwood's two short novels comprising "The Berlin Stories" became the play I Am a Camera, which became 1) the film of the same name starring Julie Harris, and 2) the musical, Cabaret, which then became a film.
Kathryn Forbes' novel, "Mama's Bank Account," became the play I Remember Mama, which later became a film.
Carson McCullers' novel "The Member of the Wedding," was adapted into a play that was later adapted into a film.
Can you think of others?

picky picky, Dr. Kimble. Both were still plays first, although ADVISE was closer to its source than CAINE was (which just concentrated on the court martial).

Anna and the King of Siam Death in Venice Bel Ami Cousin Bette Auntie MameNo Time for SergeantsWasn't The Diary of Anne Frank ever a play? If not, it could have been since it is stagebound and emotional. Truth--I am cheating since I have Googled "Novels adapted into plays" and then extrapolated to those made into movies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_novels_adapted_into_playsSo, there are others: Gigi for example

Of Mice and Men went through the 3 stages of writing. So did The Grapes of Wrath.
What's interesting is that writing novels, writing plays, and writing screenplays all require different writing skills.

Life with Father, a book by Clarence Day (1936), became a play by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse (1939), that became movie 1947 by Michael Curtiz.
Dracula, based on a book by Bram Stoker (1897), became a play by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston (1924), that became a movie 1931 by Tod Browning.

Kiss Them from Me 1957, based on a book by Frederic Wakeman, became a play by Luther Davis that became a movie by Stanley Donen. Not one of Cary Grant's best movies.

Peter Pan - started as a novel , THE LITTLE WHITE BIRD, Which included a section called Peter Pan in Kensington Garden, then became a play , Peter Pan, then a novel, Peter Pan and Wendy, then a film Peter Pan. The play was mounted many times after , generally titled as Peter Pan. This also became the title for the novel and film versions. The rights were gifted by James M Barrie to the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital

"Wasn't The Diary of Anne Frank ever a play? If not, it could have been since it is stagebound and emotional."
With all the googling, you could have found out that the 1959 Stevens film (and the 1980 TV movie with Melissa Gilbert) were both based on the award winning play based on Anne Frank's Diary. Besides, how can a story centered in hiding in an attic NOT be stagebound? That said, the 1959 version isn't exactly stagy, with the 'elevator lift' shots of the different floors, the exterior scenes, and the downstairs thief sequence (which I believe was limited only to the Attic scenes- Otto, Anne, and Peter off-stage- in the stage versions; heck, compare the Stevens film with the Gilbert TV-film and you'll notice which one is more stagebound).

Yes, and it looks really good on you. What the heck did you do to earn that? I guess it has something to do with the number of posts I have made.
I thought something was suppose to happen when posts reach 666 but nothing happened that I was aware of.
Now I am back to yellow!
