"Salome" (2013) is adapted from Oscar Wilde's play which again is based on the Biblical story. Maybe this one is a bit far-fetched.  |

I know Vicky Baum's Grand Hotel has been mentioned before, but I recently stumbled over that there is a 1959 West German/French version too, called Menschen im Hotel, though I'm not sure if that version went via the play, or from the novel directly. Michèle Morgan in the Greta Garbo role. O.W. Fischer/John Barrymore, Heinz Rühmann/Lionel Barrymore, Sonja Ziemann/Joan Crawford, Gert Fröbe/Wallace Beery. |

teleadmDuring one of the recent Garth Games we learned that Sam Jaffe played Kringelein in the original Broadway production of Grand Hotel. The same role was played by Lionel Barrymore in the Hollywood film. Such physical opposites they were and yet played the same character.
