Some of the titles were rather witty. This board isn't that important. Chill, people. You need to get a life in your not having a life.

I have always interpreted his poetry as pointing out the dark side of religion in general and more recently, his dislike of our political system, and the damage being done to society as a whole. He has never, in my experience, directed a poem at a specific poster. He has never engaged in an insult war with another poster. Why all the upset over him now?

it is rather odd that there seems to be an underlying trend of: 'me no wanna hear any thing that might go against my god's delicate sensibilities' arising on this and other past boards. still time marches on and so does my scribbling.
oh and i do luv's me a good title.
thanks

His poetry reminds Catman of a certain American poet, but Catman cannot recall the name. All Catman remembers about the guy is he suffers from severe agoraphobia and teaches at an American university.

I have no issue with Fleet's poems and I personally think he should be allowed to post as normal.

I have no issue with Fleet's poems and I personally think he should be allowed to post as normal. I mostly agree. I think he's a good voice to be had on this board, and I appreciate his Gonzoesque poetry. That said, I do think sometimes he will start many threads in one day, and that can raise legitimate concerns about spamming. I believe the old IMDb board had a mechanism to throttle some users, like imposing a time delay between successive posts. Perhaps the admins of this board could do something similar, like restricting how often a user can create new threads. Admin, what about that? I think that would be a more fair approach than totally eliminating a user's ability to start new threads.

I think that would be a more fair approach than totally eliminating a user's ability to start new threads. ~.75% of the last 750 threads he started were not poems, and of the remaining ~99.25%, very few have any replies at all. If he takes advantage of this thread, those who wish to read them can bookmark it and never miss a single verse. If he instead chooses to bury them in various other threads, his fans might miss many of them.

It was a good decision, IMO. I've nothing against fleet, who seems like a nice person, but the number of times I've clicked on one of his threads thinking it was a real one... it's an irritating time waster.
I see no harm whatsoever in putting them all in one place - those who wants to see them can more easily find them, those who don't want to see them can more easily avoid them. Better for everyone, and no real downside. Calling it a free speech issue is kind of absurd.

It lasted for a while after he left... after the snowflakes left for "safer" space.

I like the titles, and the poems have some kind of a je ne sais quoi about them that appeals to me (perhaps they resonate with me because I'm borderline autistic myself). I've always liked a good 'novelty' poster, and I think that this forum is depleted enough in terms of quality without trying to marginalise thefleetsin's efforts.
