Agreed. From what I can see they just took the old logo and made it bold. I take that back. I saw it in desktop format on my phone and it didn't look bad. Then I got home. Those mofos tried to force the stupid layout on me again from before. It's big, ugly, and the playlists' arrangements are atrocious. Luckily there's a tool next to the search box that enabled me to go back to the old one. They asked me a survey why I'm switching and I put it plainly: "It's fucking terrible". ah i just realized i could switch back, i preferred having ten thumbnails under "recommended" instead of eight

Yes and I like the previous format better.

Not liking the new theater mode. It's basically just full screen in a window. It was nice having a 'medium' size between standard and full screen without having to make adjustments.
Otherwise, no complaints.

I actually haven't noticed it yet. Maybe it is 'cause I am in Australia and we are seeing a different version of the site than you but it still looks the same to me as it did earlier this year. I remember when Yahoo made changes to its website it took a while for us to see them so maybe we will get the new version of You Tube soon too.

I'm Australian and been seeing the new format for several days now (starting around the same time as the other posters). Can't figure out why you aren't seeing it.

I noticed that today. Bolder font and the views are bigger. I think they are slowly trying to make it more like NETFLIX and HULU. I believe that's the idea behind it; they're trying to push YouTube Red. It states "Uninterrupted music, ad-free videos, and more". It's only a matter of time before they start creating original content and/or offer something similar to other streaming sites. I suppose if it's successful, then they'll probably experiment with it. I don't really mind the layout, but there's certain "improvements" that I'm not comfortable with. First, when expanding the video (theater mode), I notice the control bar extends all the way across the page. I liked it when it was the actual size of what I was watching. If I want to replay it, then I have to set my cursor all the way to the left of the window. Save that shtick for full screen mode. I hate that they now round the views. I used to love seeing the little numbers underneath the thumbnail. For example, if a video has 10,133 views, then there's no way of telling the last three unless you click on it. I think they also did the same with the amount of subscribers a while back and, most recently, the thumbs up/down. I suppose a few other things would be them not showing the amount of likes/dislikes before watching a video. When they had the 5-star rating system, it used to tell whether people thought it was worth watching or if they hated it. The last thing would be that auto play button being on when I clear the browser history. Every time I do that, I have to remind myself to turn the damn thing off because I like to read or leave a comment after a video. YouTube hit its peak when you had two of the most voted comments on top. This was also before they implemented having to convert your YouTube account into Google for their services. They should honestly consider listening to their audience. I did complain about the above, but I highly doubt anything will come of it.

I cleared cookies and it's forced the new layout. I tried the 'restore classic' feature but it's not working. Any advice?

Never mind. Third time's the charm. They're not gonna like my answer to their survey.

A while ago, yes.
You have the option to restored it back to the previous layout too.
The night time feature was a nice touch though.
