Does it?
In Suicide Squad when Waller (for no real reason but let's run with it) kills a bunch of agents because they were working with her without proper clearance, Deadshot says something very close to "And you thought we were the bad guys" to convince you that she's worse than he is so that you'll like the squad members, buy their toys, etc. Now let's see here. This is a guy who kills people he's never met for money, with no questions asked, ruining the countless lives of the people who know the person he killed, and he's now claiming he is morally superior to Waller? Is he kidding? He's a sick fuck, and it's ridiculous to have happy-go-lucky smiley ass Will Smith playing him like he's some every day guy just working hard to get by.
What did you think?

I am not entirely convinced Deadshot is a proper villain in these movies. In some of the Batman comic books right before the 'New 52' started they had Deadshot as an antihero that helped Batman from time to time and was trying to turn over a new leaf for his son and I can see them going down this path in 'Suicide Squad 2' especially with the rumoured 'Deadshot' solo movie. Will Smith doesn't usually play villains in his movies so I found him an odd choice from day one and am surprised they didn't keep him for Martian Manhunter.

I think you're going too far. I like both MCU and DCEU. I don't like Harry Potter. So I don't watch Harry Potter movies and I don't go on the Harry Potter boards and deconstruct every line of the movies to try to cast them in a negative light. I understand that some DCEU fans have been horribly insulting to MCU fans but I don't see the point in trying to outdo them in the criticism area.
You are much better when you are countering their attacks with facts and shutting down their arguments.

Haven't heard anything in ages since they now seem more focused on Harley Quinn and Joker spin-offs.

Didn't you say in your "review" of SS that Will Smith as Deadshot was "...pretty cool actually. They did good using him to drive the film and there were a lot of good scenes played off of him, my favorite being '2nd go delete my browser history' which I genuinely laughed at. He had a good look, solid backstory, cool use of skill, etc."? imdb2.freeforums.net/thread/54313/finally-ss-trash-completely-thoughtless

What did you think? He's an assassin. Plain and simple. There's a reason he was locked up in prison. So yeah, I don't see him having some moral high ground over Waller, other than the fact that he's played by Will Smith, and we're supposed to like Will Smith.

But this is just a really specific aspect of him trying to claim moral superiority over Waller and that just doesn't ring true does it?

They botched it big-time. From the sound of your review, you might even like it more than me and you hated it, but that's beside the point. I might be remembering it wrong, but after he said that didn't they kind of treat it as a joke? Almost like he was saying, "Welcome to the club" or something? Again, I haven't seen it since opening weekend over a year ago, so I could be wrong. I don't know what I'm doing defending SS anyway.

Well in fairness you're not really defending it, we're just discussing his motivation. Basically he was selling up that Waller was a bitch, but it's just funny coming from a guy who literally kills people for a living without any concern.

Though he does have the moral high ground over the DCEU version of Batman. Between being a total xenophobe, a relentless murderer with no justification to his actions, and a total sadist, Batman has walked through the franchise being a less believable superhero than Deadshot, of all people. Not to mention Brucy's reenactment of Joe Chille's mugging-turned-murder by ambushing Deadshot and his daughter in an alleyway. Or his decision at the end of Suicide Squad to just leave the squad in Weller's care despite the inhuman treatment they've endured.

Didn't check if what you say is correct. But one would assume that a lowbrow film like this is easy to understand, seemingly not,
When Deadshot says that he is referring to the fact:
- that he may be a paid killer of strangers - but she however is a killer plus somebody who shoots her own people in the back killing them.
This additional element betrayal of trust (the people you are responsible for) is even more reprehensible for family father Deadshot than him being paid assassin. At least in Deadshot's mind operating with criminal logic.
See it's that easy if you just try to think about it.

Looks like someone saw my idea for making Will Smith Martian Manhunter being Deadshot after a psychic backlash.
