The shortest song in my collection is the theme from the 1970s/1980s Australian TV series "Countdown" (a music show), which lasts 12 seconds, and for which the lyrics consist entirely of the word "Countdown" repeated several times:
The shortest instrumental in my collection is "Level Complete", from the 1996 Sega Saturn video game Sonic 3D, which lasts 8 seconds, and presumably composed by Richard Jacques.
How about you, what is the shortest song in your music collection, and what is the shortest instrumental?

Queen - Made in Heaven, Track 12: Yeah (4 seconds)
It's probably worth noting the difference between a track and a song, though.

The shortest track in my collection is Interlude: Let's Dance by Janet Jackson, which is 4 seconds, but that's not a song nor instrumental, so I didn't mention it in my OP.

rateater I've always been amused by the title of the Short Songs for Short People album. Someone should do a multi-CD set called Long Songs for Tall People.

In this live video, from roughly 1:20-7:20 the band plays eleven unique ballads, and plays one of them twice! So six minutes, divided by twelve ballads, is an average of 30 seconds per ballad.
EDIT: I don't actually have these songs in my music collection, but in the spirit of the "Short Songs for Short People" album I wanted to share.

Then the shortest song I have is Miracle Cure on The Who's Tommy: 12-second track, but there's 1 second of silence at the end, making the song 11 seconds.

I suspect there are others I can't think of at the moment. But it would take all night to search through my collection.

With Foobar, it's a simple matter of sorting by duration. And yes, it took forever and a day. lol

I only have about 400 CDs. I converted about half of them to mp3s before taking a break, then I never finished the project. One day I hope to put the whole collection on a jump drive so I can carry it with me anywhere.

It took me several months of ripping a few every day or three. The artwork took more time and effort than the actual ripping, but it's totally worth it and easy to update as new CD's are purchased. And with one-click conversion to any format, the work has really paid off. ![](https://i.imgur.com/za8C4um.png) Now my brother wants me to do his, but he has four or five times as many CD's as I do, so I'm afraid he's out of luck. lol

I have FLAC files, but my hearing ain't the greatest and I like what I can do with iTunes (add to up next, play next, multiple filters, etc), which won't play them.

"I've Been Changed" from my late beautiful precious Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys during his earlier days in the Gospel field only goes for one minute and twenty six seconds.
God bless you and his family always!!!

I've been more than happy with Foobar: ![](https://i.imgur.com/YLtga2d.png) I've been thinking about checking out AIMP, but since Foobar has been good to me, it's been on the back burner for a long time. And besides, it seems like it might be a bit bloated. Some of the skins look really cool, but I prefer a minimalist setup that uses less resources, and at the end of the day, I don't really care what the player looks like. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)
