Don’t think any other contemporary director can capture life’s simple joys and heartbreaks with such subtlety and delicacy. Any other fans here? Our Little Sister

One of my favourite contemporary filmmakers, for sure. Nobody Knows and Like Father, Like Son are among the best and most moving films of recent years, and I very much liked After Life, Hana, Still Walking, I Wish and After the Storm. Our Little Sister is the only film of his, of those I've seen, which I consider a disappointment.

Loved the three I've seen: After Life Nobody Knows Still Walking They're among his best from what I've seen (yet to see Mabarosi or Distance). Nobody Knows is soul-crushing, but After Life might just be my favorite if pushed to name one. He has a new one due later this year also The Third Murder
