O Cangaceiro is a 1953 Brazilian film that tells the tale of Lampião who was the leader of the Cangaço. a form of banditry endemic to the Brazilian Northeast in the 1920s and 1930s. Lampião's exploits and reputation turned him into a 'folk hero' The bandit group wore distinctive leather hats with highly stylized motifs , when looking at historical photos the films costumes are remarkably authentic. photos below from film

Vincent Price in MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH. I have no idea what kind of hat he is wearing. Oliver Reed in THE THREE MUSKETERS. Don't know what kind of hat it is. Boris Karloff in THE RAVEM. I guess what he is wearing is a beanie?

one that comes to mind is that upside down high heeled shoe hat worn by that character actress in Brazil...I forget her name. I believe she also appeared in the sitcom "Soap" (Katherine Helmond in the rather unusual hat) ) Harpo's silly top hat is another good one. As well as Chico's lid which defies description... Agnes Moorehead's lid in Summer Holiday Sherlock Holmes Deerslayer hat The urban sombrero from Seinfeld ...also need to mention the derby worn by Edward G in Little Caesar Found 'em all ... whew. the first one was tough because I read it as "from Brazil)
