I thought someone else has posted a similar poll, but I can't find it now, and I'd like to use this poll as a springboard for discussing Mr. Burton's films, what happened to their quality (if anything), and what (if anything, again--now I sound like Perry Mason!) could be done to restore said quality.
Burton's is an impressive talent, but I believe he hasn't made a wholly satisfying film since Big Fish. What say you?
1. Ed Wood
2. Sleepy Hollow
3. Batman Returns

movielover, SciFive, sostie, FridayOnElmStreet, and anyone else who has voted I suppose this raises a question, then: what went wrong? Looking at the results thus far (which I largely expected), Planet of the Apes and Big Fish have received only one vote each, and nothing from the entire 11-year period from 2005 to 2016 has received a single vote. Has Burton become too out-there--or has he just become repetitive and dull? In other words, has the novelty worn off (as I believe)?

Tim Burton has been kind of a "sick puppy" for a long time and I don't think it's as appealing as it used to be.

The Nightmare Before Christmas was produced by Burton (then again, who doesn't know?), but if it were, I'd probably put it in the top 3.

In many ways, producer Tim Burton's spirit hovers over director Henry Selick's Nightmare Before Christmas as producer Howard Hawks's hovered over Christian Nyby's The Thing from Outer Space, or how producer Steven Spielberg's did over Tobe Hooper's Poltergeist.

I haven't really enjoyed a Tim Burton film since. I did like Alice in Wonderland, but I am a fan of the books, so always enjoy seeing interpretations of the source material.
ED WOOD is a masterpiece and a loving tribute to the underappreciated Bela Lugosi.
EDIT:
Meant to add that all his films seem the "same", lately. If I never see another Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp and Helen Bonham Carter, it will be too soon.
