Masterpiece, pure and simple. Bill Murray never delivered a better performance than he does here. Up there with Ghostbusters for me.

ck100I used to live in NYC and happened upon several movies being filmed. Mostly people standing around and waiting but occasionally saw an actual scene being filmed. Dustin Hoffman by the fountain in Central Park for Marathon Man was one I watched and some scenes in Three Days of the Condor. Hazy memories count ! Well since you lived in NYC, then seeing movies filmed is nothing new for you. I know security is generally tight on these sets so it can be hard to watch scenes. But I think you can consider yourself lucky if you at least get a glimpse of some famous actor let alone watch them work. That's pretty cool that you got to see Dustin Hoffman working. The only scene I remember shooting for Groundhog Day to some extent is when Bill Murray runs into Ned on the street.

Only a few movies have filmed here.
But it's still a lot of fun to see local places on the big screen!

It's okay. Once was enough though.

It's okay. Once was enough though. That's what I thought after the first viewing. BUT. It really has a lot of actual depth and philosophy and all that kinda "stuff" behind the humor. Back in the Olden Days on IMDb there was a serious discussion (actual discussion, not a about it that inspired me to watch it yet again (even though it wasn't even February) and I had already watched it many times . Sometimes second viewings improve a film. I recommend another watch of this one.

It's easily one of my top 5 comedies and Bill Murray's best movie and performance.
