Is that Stallone?!? In a soccer movie - 5 years after Rocky no less?!? WTF!?! Looks like a British version of 'The Longest Yard'. Awesome stuff - I never even heard of it.

There is no end to Sly's talents! It is actually a pretty famous film here. I wouldn't say it is the best, but definitely most people in Britain will know of it.

He was great in Copland with DeNiro, Liota and Keitel:

Anyway, the correct answer to the question is 'The Damned United', about the legendary Brian Clough.
I believe it has actually been scientifically proven that this is the greatest sport's film of all time.

Give it a watch at least once a year. Ending scene of a broken down old bloated LaMotta talking to himself in the mirror is haunting/epic/sad. Scene where he lets his guard down and challenges Sugar Ray to beat on him is one of the greatest scenes in all of movies. Used to own the movie poster as a kid.

In addition to what Stanley said: in addition to well known actors (Michael Caine, Stallone), Escape to Victory also features real top soccer players: Pelรฉ, Bobby Moore, Ardilles, world cup winners all three of them. And it was directed by John Huston.
