Probably true. Even in 98 he was starting to lose it. I distinctly remember in the World Cup Final he confused Romario for Ronaldo, and was shouting his name when through on goal. Pretty cringeworthy at the time. Not like you hear him much anyway, except for the odd low key game on MOTD.

I never had a huge problem with him. Just seems odd to retire on a World Cup year but not do the World Cup as a big finish.
I think Tyldsley is the best one but I don't think I care that much.
