I'm excluding Made for TV films and TV Series.
I mean a Mini-Series in the sense that it's a few episodes long.
I choose "Hatfields & McCoys" 2012.
I used to think "Lonesome Dove" was the best, and some days I think it still may be, but I LOVE "Hatfields & McCoys"
Kevin Costner is where he belongs, in the Old West. His portrayal of Devil Anse Hatfield was brilliant. This Mini Series could have made a great Western Trilogy.
Bill Paxton was also very great as the mentally ill McCoy. The forbidden love angle, mixed with the rival clans/families tragedy, the sacrificial lamb (cotton) it was all so well executed and just an experience. It pulls you into a world.

...for me, the very raw and unnerving "Deadwood"

From the ones i saw, my choice is the same.
