I was going to post about Benji too... Did you know... In the first Benji film: Benji (1974), Benji was played by Higgins the dog. Higgins also starred on the TV Show: Petticoat Junction. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higgins_(dog)In the "early" Benji sequel films, and other media of that period, Benji was played by Higgins daughter: Benjean. There was another Benji movie, a few years ago, which starred a new dog.

I actually didn't know all of this fine trivia about " Benji / Higgins / Benjean the dog(s) " just too clever it's almost like the Eddie Dog father / son crossover too . Thanks so much MCDemuth for sharing all of this and your reply .

Laika, a Moscow stray which was picked up ten days before her flight. In November, 1957, she became the first animal to orbit Earth. Sputnik 2 was never intended to return, but she unexpectedly died from excessive heat exposure several hours into the flight. The flight demonstrated that humans could survive a launch and the space environment.

Laika looked like a wonderful dog there . IMPO - It's too bad she was used for another early form of cruel animal testing back then ( such a sad story with an unhappy ending for her indeed ) . Thanks Sulla for sharing these pics with us here too .

Also Winnie-the-Pooh, Lassie, the Hound of the Baskervilles, Reepicheep, Mr. Fox, and probably some others... EDIT: I thought of a few more: Shiloh has already been mentioned, so I'll add Snowy (from Tintin), Toto (from The Wizard of Oz, book and film), Eddie (from Frasier), and White Fang. I really love dogs, if you haven't guessed!
