I far prefer Seinfeld--I never liked Friends, which is (somewhat ironically) even more superficial than Seinfeld in the long run. While I never found Jerry himself all that funny, the supporting cast is delightful (particularly Michael Richards, who's doggone hilarious).
Still, I think Frasier is even funnier and more lasting than either, to be frank.

Salz.... I look forward to waking up at 1am [not meaning to wake up at that time] for the Frasier block on the hallmark channel. awesome. and its counterpart, I never understood Cheers.

Frasier's remarkably well-plotted and beautifully characterized (and superbly acted), and the fact that they're able to create great comedy as well is just--well, very commendable, let's say. I never really warmed up to Cheers either (and I live in Boston, so I see the sign in big letters whenever I'm in the more touristy spots). Luckily, around me the reruns are on a wee bit earlier than 1 am!

Seinfeld is the only answer and I enjoy Friends. Anyone who says Friends over Seinfeld either never watched Seinfeld or has awful taste.

Seinfeld is much more critical and hardcore comedy , but I don't think it's suitable for the teen crowd . I always enjoyed Jerry's of-humor scenes and openers/closers . But Friends is a great lightweight friendly group comedy which I enjoyed too , but mainly for the young city folk . I went off Cheers which never really seemed that funny . Frasier was too upper-class comedy for me .

I hated both shows so I choose "The Golden Girls", which was much funnier than any other sitcoms ever.

Seinfeld is cleverer (and doing something more original) but it just doesn't make me laugh as consistently as Friends.

I actually liked "Hot In Cleveland" a lot and wish it had lasted 2 or 3 more seasons. What a delightful pleasure is was to see the adorable Betty White again, as Elka, who was similar to Sophia, played by the beloved Estelle Getty, on "The Golden Girls". Valerie Bertinilli, Wendy Malick and Jane Leeves were also quite funny to watch as Melanie, Victoria & Joy, who were respectively similar to Rose, Blanche & Dorothy. I knew Valerie from other shows but had never heard about Wendy & Jane and they were a nice discovery. The show was very funny. Not as much as "The Golden Girls" but it was a strong contender.

Seinfeld, though I liked Friends when it first aired it doesn't hold up as well for me. And since there seems to be an offshoot discussion about Frasier and Cheers, I liked them both when they aired but Frasier has aged much better, especially than the Shelley Long years.

Thanks for your review on Hot In Cleveland , Fantoma ! I actually enjoyed the Golden Girls when it was on way back , and I had seen the the first few episodes of Hot In Cleveland . And I mentioned their connection because they are basically the same genre of comedy . Although unrelated , it made me hark back to Fran Drescher's 'Living with Fran' (I believe it was originally just called 'Fran') but even though she was the main actor , her role was increasingly diminished . Thankfully she then went on to make the very funny Happily Divorced , and I believe she has something else in the works currently (but I can't find it at the moment, a rumor that I heard)
Back to Hot In Cleveland , Wendy Malick is a stand out in Just Shoot Me , and was also a late regular alongside series regular Jane Leeves in Frasier .
I was interested in your view , because at the moment we are watching Grace & Frankie which is a senior dramedy with some very good acting all round , and thoroughly enjoying that .

Big fan of Shelley Long , Spike ! She was sweet in Cheers , and overall is a outstanding actress !

That's like asking who would you rather bash with a baseball bat a kitten or spike lee. Seinfeld and spike lee are the only correct answer. Also Cheers is better than Frasier.

Although I've always thought Seinfeld was the better show, I've never understood the intense hatred for Friends. I enjoyed both.

I found the earlier series of Friends quite funny but have tried Seinfeld several times and never found it at all amusing.
