I have selected a number of members that I do not want to deal with, up to and including the threads they start. I have gone through the checkbox list, checking every box, and saving the changes, yet when I am logged in I can still see their threads in the overall list of threads. Can this be fixed?

Just want to add... sometimes they are even able to reply to you within a thread or the threads you create. it's like OIMDB all over again!

They are either being cantankerous, nasty or targeting you personally. People don't block someone because the blocker is being a silly little child, they are doing it for protection or to walk away from a volatile situation or situations. so what is the point of blocking someone if they don't know they are being blocked? why do they get to continue their harassment while the blocker gets to stick their head in the sand and be ignorant to the ordeal? why are you siding with the person getting blocked?

I'm not siding with anybody. That's how the block/ignore function works. It's how it's always worked on most if not all forums.

It's not a matter of the Admin choosing not to implement such a blocking feature; it simply cannot be done. Even if a plugin existed to prevent other users from viewing your posts, it 1.) could be easily bypassed and 2.) would quickly break because there is a hard limit in the number of fields (or 'keys') a plugin can store. Without getting technical, only a relatively small amount of entries can be stored by a plugin and at a minimum, each entry would have to store the user ID and the blocked user ID for every single person on the board and for each instance of blocking, which would cause it to cap at fewer than 100 blocks for the entire board. Maybe more if you tweak but not by a lot. It's just not feasible. This is something that Proboards would need to implement and should be taken up with them. It's not the Admin's decision to make and it's certainly not his fault. So in the case of harassment, it would be better to file a report to one of the moderators or the Admin. I get your point but nothing can be done about it. Best wishes.

Blocked a new account this morning and
Block this member's threads clicked/checked
Save Privacy Settings clicked
Block this member's threads not blocked, check-mark unchecked
Repeat, checked, click settings to save, reverts to unchecked

Ignoring someone is like turning off a radio when you don't like what the host is saying. That's about you and what you want to experience. There's no reason to penalize the host just because you don't like what he's saying. He might be fine hearing what you have to say and commenting on it. But it's up to you whether you want to hear what he says or not. At any rate, I don't use ignore/block here. I actually tried to at one point simply because I didn't want to see a person's threads because they were posting a lot of them and I had no interest in them, but the block function didn't work right anyway--I was still seeing their threads on the list, and that's what I was trying to avoid.

Hate to keep cluttering up the Tech Support board with every question I have, Admin, so, if no one minds, I'll post here, as it's connected to this question as well. After that whole bit yesterday with the forum going wild and the "checking security" page coming up, I noticed that everyone I had blocked is now unblocked. I don't see any way around blocking these specific individuals again, but did something happen in the interim? Is it because of the "checking security" page?

Can you not block anyone now?

Admin I can block now, but all of the accounts I had blocked before were apparently deleted over the course of last night (somehow, certainly without my doing it). As for what happened yesterday, I was referring to what I wrote here. This is what it looked like yesterday.

By the time I got online, it was all good.

I did have them on block for a second but then I turned it off because I missclicked. do you mean that? but in any event I tried blocking another person and same thing. give gift only.

I fixed that and now I am twit free.

Blocked a new account this morning and Block this member's threads clicked/checked Save Privacy Settings clicked Block this member's threads not blocked, check-mark unchecked Repeat, checked, click settings to save, reverts to unchecked I'm getting exactly the same problem. All the other checkbox settings are persisted, but "Block this member's threads" keeps reverting to unticked. I've now tried on three different browsers. This appears to be a new problem, since the users whose threads I previously blocked remain blocked. So now we are defenceless against new board spammers.
