kijii Sit down as I may have some news that will cause fainting. I also still have a working Sony Betamax machine. Well... it works if I have the cover off and nudge the wheel a little bit. I have many tapes still. They have mostly been replaced with VHSs and then with DVDs or abandoned. A few of the films I had only on beta so they got looked at before the emergency playing treatment was needed. Need to find me a buyer !
Have a tv that is also a DVD player and a couple of VHS/DVD combos that play but don't record. Seem to be set for a while. VHS players are always available at the thrift stores and some have a return policy so if they don't work you can bring them back. I should probably stock up on a couple.
That '42 Pied Piper looks like it might be very good. EDIT: It's on You Tube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=huRmQFt7JT4Thanks for telling me about the Pied Piper. I will watch in one day. It received some Oscar nominations you know.

What other American movies did Renoir direct? I mostly remember his French films, like GRAND ILLUSION and LA BELLE ET LE BETE (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST). I forgot to mention that La Belle et la Bête, wasn't Jean Renoir, but Jean Cocteau.

I am assuming that was a rhetorical question.*
*A rhetorical question is a figure of speech in the form of a question that is asked to make a point rather than to elicit an answer. Though classically stated as a proper question, such a rhetorical device may be posed declaratively by implying a question, and therefore may not always require a question mark when written.

The Pied Piper movie mentioned, on youtube, it only shows the middle of the movie, and I mean the middle of the frames, not the whole picture of the frames, so much must be lost.

Tell me, Bat, did you appear on the TV classic GUNSMOKE--as Festus' mule???

Since I have this movie on DVD I rewatched it. What I said before about Okofinokee wasn't correct, as some scenes with the actors where really done there. Dana Andrews, Anne Baxter, Walter Brennan, Walter Huston, John Carradine, all did good jobs creating a bit of mystery. Having seen it again, snsurone though telling the end with Walter Brennan and the dog, didn't tell the whole scenario, the reason why, and why it ended like that, so it didn't matter to me. He could have been alone in the swamps, for example.

Took a longer look at it and not only are the frames severely "trimmed" but the sound is awful. I thought it was my 'puter having its usual problems. I see that there are several clips posted but together they don't add up to the entire film. Back to waiting for someone to post a good copy ! sorry kijii seems we have to keep looking.

Could be the reason Twentieth Century Fox, don't give a damn this copy is available, and just let it be there on youtube
