The ‘70s was a dreadful decade for westerns. I saw a lot, including the Eastwoods, but, well, they were not bad, they just didn’t make any impression on me. I remember almost nothing of them. I even threw in a late John Wayne opus to pad out my list because a couple of the lines and situations were amusing and ironic (“I got a saddle that's older than you are, Mrs. Lowe”). I start and end the ‘70s with director Don Siegel.
In roughly chronological order:
Two Mules For Sister Sara / Don Siegel McCabe And Mrs. Miller / Robert Altman The Train Robbers / Burt Kennedy The Cowboys / Mark Rydell Blazing Saddles / Mel Brooks The Shootist / Don Siegel
