The American heavyweight boxer with a 38-0 pro record, with 37 knockouts. Holds the WBC title with 5 defenses. I'd have thought boxing promoters would want to promote heavyweight fights above all else.

I'd have thought boxing promoters would want to promote heavyweight fights above all else. Because he has been avoiding every big fight out there, and the WBC have been protecting him. Been plenty of fights he could have taken, like Pulev, Povetkin, Ortiz, Haye but he's not interested in fighting these guys. We can only hope he has been advised to avoid these guys so that so that he doesn't risk screwing up a potential big money fight against someone like AJ or Fury (if he ever comes back). But I dunno, I suspect he's just padding out his record against tomato cans to try and look good, maybe his only aim is to beat Marciano's record, be a travesty if he does without fighting anyone who is any good!

He is apparently fighting Luis Ortiz in November. I don't follow boxing much, but I'm more interested in heavyweight fights than the lower weights. It just jumped out to me that he had 38 wins and 37 knockouts and I've never heard of him. If he's dodging good fighters, I suppose that would explain things. How do people follow boxing, by the way? It seems like you have to pay for every fight, and it isn't cheap. Even if I wanted to watch more boxing, it isn't worth paying $50 for a pay-per-view, in my opinion.

Fair play to him if he is taking that fight, I hadn't heard, that will be his first real test. AJ is fighting a mandatory against Pulev in October, Pulev is a good heavyweight but I think AJ should have him outgunned in every aspect, so it should be straightforward. Hopefully then, the winners of both fights will face each other, but AJ might have to fight another mandatory against Povetkin first if he beats Pulev. As for watching the fights, the bigger fights you can normally download the next day in perfect HD if you know how to use torrents. Or you can stream them live, check out the reddit forums on fight night, always very handy for links, the good links will always get lots of likes, you don't need to sign up to reddit or anything, I never have. You'll also need to download some software called Acestream for most the links that are put up on reddit, it is P2P software for streaming live, and follow the instructions, but it is amazing quality. The only problem is on the bigger nights, the streams do sometimes get taken down, very annoying when it happens mid-fight, so the connoisseurs might just prefer to stump up the cash to avoid all the hassle. GGG v Canelo as well this weekend at middleweight, for boxing fans probably the biggest fight of the year.

People watch it with their friends or go to bars. $50 a fight is ridiculous, getting four guys round to your house with beers and paying $10 each isn't. Who wants to sit in the house on their own on a Saturday night watching boxing? Deviants, that's who.
