I found it tedious and irritating. I didn't see the "movie as metaphor" or "god and man" aspects at all during the movie. I can see it now you've said it, but it doesn't make the movie any less tedious and irritating. Well I mean I can't disagree with you. Looking back on it I think I'll find it way better. but the whole time I was very bored and yes it was irritating. why am I still saying I like the movie? Idk I can't explain it. even one of my favorite critics gave it a full price but said "I'm not going to tell you to go watch it". Which I can link if you want to see. This movie has caused some weird love/hate feeling in some people imo. It's fascinating to me.

The trailer looks good to me. Hard to guess whether I'll like the film. I like plenty of weird films, but I hated the Fountain and I didn't like Black Swan very much either. I did like Pi and Requiem for a Dream a lot, and I loved the Wrestler.

Time for Arronofsky to go to movie jail, with the likes of Duncan Jones and Neill Blomkamp. Too many misses.

So in other words, it's a pretentious pile of shit. Spoken like a true knuckle-dragging know-nothing. Idiots like you are the reason why the film industry devotes so much of its energy and money making movies that appeal only to people with the intellect of hormonal teens. Only an anti-intellectual moron would actually get angry when confronted with a movie which requires that you actually think about what you've seen. Good riddance. You don't deserve either of them. Stick to Transformers and other things with lots of explosions. That's more your level.

So I know nothing ? What I do know is that this movie was simply put the biggest waste of 2 hours I've spent in a cinema. The more I think about it, the worse it gets. At least when I saw Mulholland Drive, I was confused, but intrigued. I had to watch it again to figure it out. I still don't think after seeing it 3 times I still have it all. This steaming heap I will never watch again, because I'd get more entertainment out of watching dust collect on my window sill.
I'm not angry because I had to "actually think about what you've seen". I'm angry because I wasted 2 hours and good money on a shit movie. I'm not adverse to thinking about anything. But first and foremost, movies are supposed to be ENTERTAINING and ENGAGING. If not, what's the point ?
So in other words because you feel some form of intellectual superiority over someone who you don't know from a bar of soap, you feel like you should make recommendations for me. How's about you go fuck yourself and your pretentious opinion, and I'll carry on telling it like it is. The movie was shit, absolute undeniable shit. It's a film from a bloke who thinks he's far cleverer than he really is. The Wrestler was a great film. Black Swan was meh. This is crap. Aronofsky went way past being clever, and it turned into rolled gold stupidity, with a massive dose of tedium thrown in for good measure. Want to watch a good allegorical story ? Watch/Read The Crucible. That's how you do allegory. Want satire ? Watch/Read Orwell. Aronofsky tried to go for the gold and missed miserably.

The movie has an F CinemaScore. That only makes me want to see it more. SOLARIS (2002) received an F, and it is one of my all time favorite films. Also, S OLARIS (2002) is very similar to Aronfsky's The Fountain (2006) another one of my all time favorites.

I didn't understand it, but I still liked it a lot. It's pretty much one long nightmare.

I think that can be part of the experience if you get my meaning. You're angry because it challenged something inside you or caught you off guard. Leaving you frustrated and thinking. Again not claiming this movie is good and people who didn't like it are wrong. But I think it's part of it. Sorry not the best with words.

This is sounding stranger by the minute lol. I heard the movie is very intense in the third act, is that true? I wanted to say something else. No spoilers. When are you seeing the movie? It has been 24 hours after I've seen this movie and this movie is literally all I can think about. Keep in mind I almost walked out and when it was over I walked out hating it, absolute hatred and anger. Yet like some critics said after its resting with me and I'm thinking more and more about it, I'm becoming more and more intrigued by it. Almost to the point of wanting to see it again. It's like the film has invaded my brain. Mother may be the worst movie I've seen this year but is simultaneously one of the best in its own weird way. I know that doesn't make any sense on the surface. I think I may end up loving the film. I'm a big fan of the director. Its a love or hate movie. Be sure to take down your review as soon as you've seen it and then come back to it a few days/weeks later and see if your thoughts have changed for better or worse. I'm super interested in how this is impacting people lol. [ Im watching it tomorrow. I am very interested to see how it goes. Sounds like I'll have to see it a few times before I form a opinion of the movie.

I wasn't going to see this at all, until I heard about all the controversy, and people "not understanding" it. That makes it sound great!

UGH I wasnt planning on seeing it again ever but now that I think about it a rewatch would be better since I would understand it a lot more. Plus there are a few scenes I (kinda) want to watch again.

I really hope they make a steelbook with the poster of her holding a heart. So much better than the posters the cinemas are using.

Saw this yesterday and I plan on seeing it again in a few days. I'm betting that like a lot of films that were divisive, flopped, were panned, or shrugged off upon initial release, this one is going to be regarded as a masterpiece in a few decades. Or if not that, at least a cult favorite, which is kind of how The Fountain is seen these days.

Mother! is what happens when the director is dating the star! That F score is well deserved.
