I just got this a month ago and I'm really loving exploring San Francisco, but if any of you played it, how do you compare the in game versions of Chicago and San Fran? And for that matter if you've played Assassins Creed and loved revolutionary Paris, or GTA and loved Los Angelas, how do you compare those full city renderings?

Assassin's Creed used to be great. Now, it's just another video game series. The city renderings are great in all of them, though. The best is definitely London in Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.
As for Watch Dogs, I love the original. I really liked Aiden as the protagonist. Watch Dogs 2 has one of the best open worlds I've ever seen, but the story and ALL of the characters are so damn annoying. I couldn't stomach all the cringe-worthy dialogue.
Hopefully we can get a third installment that combines the two and makes a great story within a great open world.

This is very off topic but funnily enough I was thinking about this just yesterday, like almost exactly.
San Francisco in Watch Dogs 2 is a much better setting that Chicago in Watch Dogs.
To me it's the same kind of reason why I vastly prefer Los Santos in GTAV to Liberty City in GTAIV.
Liberty City is just a city, it's just buildings, when I picture it I get a drab grey reminder of it because the roads, the buildings are the same colour. Los Santos however has visual variety and colour to it, beaches, oceans, hills, deserts, Beverly Hills area, Ghetto area, Hillbilly area and it's full of sunshine.
Los Santos is the best of all these open world games that I've played, in terms of size, variety and accessibility it's damn good.
Chicago just seemed like a boring generic city to me with a wooded area on the side. San Francisco however looked great, it had a lot more colour and between the bay, the woods, the Google place and the different parts of the city it was a lot more varied.
Played all the Assassins Creed games, the settings are pretty good there too but like the guy above said London in Assassin's Creed Syndicate is easily the best looking one. Same reason, it looked very different from place to place, there was the posh area, the common folk area, the actual city itself, Houses of Parliament, the park and the Buckingham palace and all that.
Paris in Assassin's Creed Unity kinds looked a bit samey.
I really do hope they make a Watch Dogs 3 which rumours suggest would be London. I'd be fine with that, Ubisoft did just do it recently with Syndicate but it'd be completely different being the modern time.
As long as it ain't another American city, that's getting a bit old now.

I read all these reviews that say the lighter tone is what the first one should have been, and I agree with you, to me it's not quite as appealing. The sort of dark, rainy city, spy adventure of the first one was super chill and pretty awesome.

I was going to ask, the last Assassin game I played was Unity and I actually loved Paris, but I do like the larger San Fran a bit more. It was impressive the way they had the historical setting though.
Do you think if they set a game in London for Watch Dogs 3 that they basically take that same map and redo the skin, or just start from the ground up? It would be curious to have played both if they do that, and I might actually have to play Syndicate just to compare them. Is Syndicate a must play for somebody who has only played Unity and Black Flag and isn't sure if they need any more Creed?

I'd have thought they'd need to start from the ground up. Aside from the shape of London almost everything else would be too different. Syndicate was set in 1868 so it'd be a 150 year difference in buildings, vehicles, technology etc. Syndicate is kind of more of the same Assassins Creed experience. There's a few notable changes, there's carriages now so you don't have to run everywhere, there's a grapple so you can traverse buildings easier and there's two playable characters but it's pretty similar. It's a good game though, it's probably the best one they've done. Assassins Creed Origins on the other hand looks like a big revamp so that would probably be worth getting.

Would be fun to see how some of the classic buildings like parliament are rendered and placed in one vs the other, but yeah I see what you mean with the vast majority being completely different.
I'm curious if I'd rather have the similar experience or the revamp of Origins. It's one of those things, I'm probably not ever getting both, so I might wait a bit and see. I like the London setting enough to go with that almost by itself.
