This is basically these days something needs to be an existing property to be successful, so let's grab the name of some 90's film and make a show loosely based on it.

I always had a stupid little dream of maybe one day getting a sequel to True Lies being directed by James Cameron, starring Arnie, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold and Bill Paxton (rip) but sadly, that never happened.
The TV show, no thanks.

Hopefully the show will be a sequel to the movie with the husband and wife working as a spy team. I don't want to go through the whole movie again with the wife figuring out that he is a spy.

I don't want to go through the whole movie again with the wife figuring out that he is a spy. i think either way could be a solid premise for a television series. the question being what (aside from perceived built-in viewership) it gains from attaching the name to it. |

Not exactly surprised. Lethal Weapon did well enough ratings wise last season for Fox. I basically get why they would try to be adapting other action movies into TV series. But I still think they'd be better off trying something new.

McG does not excite me in the little bit that I know about Guggenheim is that he is one of the driving forces behind those terrible CW shows. So far, I'm not very interested..

Unless it is a "reboot" not a "remake", I'm not interested. If they could make it about Eliza Dushku's character all grown up with guest appearances by Arnold and Jamie Lee, that would be perfect.
