I haven't seen the movie yet, but is Bill Skarsgård's portrayal as Pennywise on the same level as Heath Ledger's Joker?

Not Heath Ledger, but better than Tim Curry.

Nope.
It was a good performance, but not THAT good.
It wasn't oscar worthy or anything if that's what you mean.

He's not even on the same level as Tim Curry, but he was good. I thought he was just as good as Tim Curry, personally.

Nope not even close. Ledger was on a different level .
Bill did a fine job though and I think he'll have a successful career in Hollywood.

Just saw it yesterday.
Skarsgaard is very good. He didn't attempt an impersonation of Curry or Ledger (very happy about that). One thing to note is that since "Pennywise" is actually a supernatural, non-human presence, he always came off differently to me in the book than Curry portrayed.
Curry's (which is classic) is more human than this iteration. I got the impression that Skarsgaard's Pennywise was more inhuman in that he seemed to be a little more socially inept. Curry had charisma. You get the feeling in Skarsgaard's role in his scene with Georgie that while assured he was manipulating the kid, Pennywise had an animal/nonhuman side at times.
After Leto's bad Ledger impression, I was worried creepy clown culture was forever affected. (Loved Ledger btw) Skarsgaard's was a breath of fresh air to me. I found him to be on a similar level to Ledger, but ultimately doing something different.

I thought he was really very good.
But he's not even close to being close to Ledger as The Joker.
