Why post that here in a religion forum? Please post this in the actors forum. What's the point of having different forums if people keep posting off-topic. We might as well have just one forum.

Hey, New Guy.... How'z about not telling the old dogs how to post. Why not post this on a different board or thread - "Why Don't People Just Post How I Want Them To?" instead of cluttering up a serious thread about am awesome dead actor? PS.
No thread is ever really serious here.

We might as well have just one forum. More than ever before, this board is about personalities. And what a bunch of personalities. --- HDS looked 91 in '84. If he mostly kept his health to near the end, good on him. little guy that sometimes blows up large

Since I seem to be in the minority here, perhaps someone can explain: What's the point of having a forum topic if people just post whatever they feel like? It kinda ruins the point of having topics. How would you feel if posts within a thread were off topic? Say, for example, if I posted about my mother's hernia operation in this Harry Dean Stanton thread. Slightly back on topic, Harry Dean Stanton did play a Mormon prophet in "Big Love". Since this is a religion forum, why hasn't someone mentioned that? On the other hand, at least this isn't a fleetsin thread.

I wouldn't call a RIP thread entirely OT in a Religion forum, obviously death plays a huge role in religion.

It occurred to me today that John Hurt was the first of the "Alien" cast to die, followed by Harry Dean Stanton.....just like in the movie.

According to Wikipedia, he played Paul in "The Last Temptation of Christ". So it's sort of on topic after all.

It was shortly before IMDb announced they were closing their discussion boards. Someone did a very nice RIP for him, and it went into multiple pages.

In the movie he was next, but in the screenplay Ripley is about to destroy the Nostromo and she finds Dallas and Brett. Dallas is still alive and at his request she burns them up with a flame thrower. That scene and others were filmed but not used. Also, after Parker is killed, Lambert's death is quite gory, but in the finished film you only hear her screaming on the intercom. When Ripley goes back to look for Jones, most of the audience probably assumed that she was going to be next.
