1982 - best film EVER 2011 - I enjoyed it 1951 - a favourite years ago, but watching it again recently some of it is pretty poor. Also, along with Running Man, the worst book adaptation ever

These Below are My own Top 3 Favorite Scenes in Each of the 3 Movies!
THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD
1. When they are standing on the ice trying to figure out the shape of the craft and they form almost a perfect circle. 2. When they set the Monster on fire. 3. When the Captain opens the door to the Greenhouse and the Monster is standing right there in his face.
John Carpenter's THE THING
1. When Palmer fails the Blood Test and Transforms. 2. When the Norris-Thing bites off Dr. Copper's Arms. 3. When MacReady & Dr. Copper explore the remains of the Norwegian Base.
THE THING (2011)
1. Edvard's Entire Tranformation Scene. 2. When they find the Ice Block-Thing hiding underneath the Building. 3. When the 2 Norwegians go chasing after the Dog-Thing during the End Credits.

1. The Thing 1982 - a masterpiece 2. The Thing From Another World - which I like almost as much as Carpenter's, surprisingly effective film, I would love to see the colorized version 3. The Thing 2011 - suffers from a mostly bland cast, which is where the other two Thing movies excel

I prefer the Thing 1982 mainly because of the FX scenes. Story and character wise I don't think it is better than the 1951 version.
The 2011 is last.

1982 - 7.5/10
2011 - 3/10
Pretty much takes everything that was good about the John Carpenter's version and destroys it. Bad cgi in place of creative and terrifying practical effects, forgettable dull characters in place of memorable characters and the fact that we already know exactly what to expect removes all suspense from the movie. The result is a very boring and completely pointless movie.

I really liked the Performances from the Norwegian Actors in it.
