I think they have got the batting order wrong. Root should come at no.3 and God knows what Buttler achieves by playing as a pure batsman but coming out to bat after the likes of Bairstow and Stokes. Promote Buttler!

Okay, my guess is that England will score around 460 runs. Other members, I encourage you to make predictions too! A predictable win for the Aussies. I predict England will be 132 for 2 at Lunch and after looking comfortable at 132 for 1 - an opening batsman who looked untroubled will miss a simple one from a part time spinner and change the dynamic of the innings. You couldn't make it up. Elsewhere though, "REALLY" impressed with Richardson, add that to the brilliant Cummins, the accuracy of Hazelwood and Starc's (I'm not a fan if truth be told) pace and you got many England fans who need to wake up if they think The Ashes will be anything but close! Richardson seemed pretty impressive against India in one of th ODIs. Aussies have got a world class bowling line-up!

It do be interesting if England are something like 450-5. At the end of the day teams chasing 4th fall short but anything that can create doubts will be interesting. I honestly believe England has a better ODI side than India with all their powerful hitters. It’s true that England have a strong batting side, and a lot of pure hitters. India has much the same and two of the best chasers in history in Kohli and Dhoni, plus a better bowling attack. England are WC favourites only because it’s at home.

The Ashes will be close, but England will win though. Australia doesn’t have the batting - even if Smith and Warner come back.

Root looked shell shocked during interviews afterwards, uncomfortable, jittery, stumbling on his words. I don't think anyone saw that manner of defeat coming. Much of the performance is unforgivable though, to give Chase 8 wickets beggars belief, I mean he wasn't even turning it!!! You can misread a pitch for selection, it happens, but two collapses when the Windies shown that batting on it wasn't a challenge, well that suggests something wasn't right with the mindset. Antigua now becomes a massive test for a number of reasons to England.
Changes? Well given the way Rashid was treated by his captain in the match you would think he's out and Broad comes back in. Jennings yet again exposed against pace and surely they can't accept that liability to put us under pressure from the off, Denly in?

In all fairness, the result from Barbados Test is absolutely bewildering and no one would have ever predicted lower middle order batsmen getting centuries and a part-timer getting 8-fer. pimpinainteasy had hinted that Windies pacers could do something special but I am not sure even he thought they could roll over England for 77.
It does raise a point about England's consistency in the Test format but only next tests will give any idea of whether England is still not good outside of home or whether WI have actually some hope.
And a question for Spike - Is there any alternative for Root when it comes to captaining England in the Test format?

before this series, ENGLAND won 7 of their last 8 tests against a tough indian side and an away series in sri lanka. cant believe you guys want to relieve him as captain based on one test performance.

I think he is still the only option for captaining but from what I remember his personal stats might have deteriorated since he became captain.

easy win for india in the end and they take the 5 match series 3-0. so now india have won ODI series in SOUTH AFRICA, AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND in 2018-19. should have won in england too.

They won champions trophy in England just a year and a half back. But do you actually follow cricket? I have a feeling that you don't.
