Stokes hit the fastest 50 by an England opener ever! Bob was right, he really is England's Golden Balls! Surely Broad and Anderson both start on Friday...

Broad and Woakes outstanding - Send in the big hitters now, slog, get a good lead and spin them out tomorrow afternoon - simples! You got it spot on...apart from the spin part!

ICC postpones the World T20. No surprise there.

He took two important wickets... Not convinced, mind, but he's still a kid, so we shall see. Is he any different to Leach, or even Ali though?

Good win for England, the big difference between the sides is the ability to convert starts. Too many West Indian batsman got 50 then got out. They needed someone to get to 150 in that first Innings.

He looks a completely different bowler when he gives it a bit of air. If he starts bowling in that Leach/Ali style of quickish, into the pitch - England might as well pick Adil Rashid. Surely someone inthe ECB has Graeme Swann’s number ? Bess looks similar to Swanny and can bowl in a similar, successful vein.....

ICC postpones the World T20. No surprise there. Correct decision. There is no way known any government is letting a 16 nation tournament happen in 4 months time. Logistical nightmare. As usual, the socials have been going stupid over all the conspiracies (IPL over the T20WC etc etc). The only stupid decision, but in no way surprising, is that the ICC wants to have back to back world cups in 2021 and 2022. The concept of over saturation has never occurred to the ICC....

Not sure who the spin coach is these days, it was Mushtaq, don't know if he's still in the employment.

He's the spin bowling coach for Pakistan in their upcoming tour of England.

Never heard of him. A Kiwi. What!!!! You never heard of Jeets? A Warwickshire Bears legend! I know he was brought in as an advisor for the white ball phase, but I don't think he's in the country as Warwickshire manager Jim Troughton said he will be missing for the start of the (belated) county cricket season. FTR: Patel was voted second greatest overseas player for The Bears after Allan Donald. Great player, great pro.

I have to admit my knowledge of the county game is very close to nil!

Where have all the great Test spinners gone? Take a quick look at T20 Fed up of being supporting acts to the pacemen in Test matches, the best spinners are increasingly plying their trade in the shortest form of the game www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/jul/21/where-have-all-the-great-test-spinners-gone-take-a-quick-look-at-t20-cricketSince the start of 2019, Test spinners have delivered just 33% of the overs and taken 29% of wickets: the lowest since the mid-1990s. Spinners average 37% more than fast bowlers and also – surprisingly – concede runs at a faster rate. Some of these trends have been unfolding for longer than others. But the direction of travel is unmistakable.

I'm not surprised they're conceding more runs. With these thick bats the batsman can run down the wicket, completely mistime the shot and get a six with a leading edge.
I'm not sure where the spinners have gone. In recent years Swann and Lyon have been very good anywhere, while Shingh, Shah, Herath and Ashwin have been exceptional in the SC. You need to remember that from 1993-2007 the careers of three spinners with 2100+ test wickets between them overlapped. That's a massive statistical anomaly that would taint any sample.

Another England collapse.
262/4 to 272/7.
Pope and Buttler gone, Woakes too.

This collapse was pretty inevitable given you have a bowling all rounder at 7 and the notorious-for-never-converting-a-start Buttler at 6.
