Australia is finding interesting ways of losing white ball games with their batting.
That’s one of the best chokes I’ve seen in a while....

Another thing to think about: England were 8-149 with 59 balls remaining. Rashid, Curran and Archer then put on 82 runs off the last 59 balls and 33 off the last 12. Australia's last 2 are Zampa and Hazlewood (not good batsmen). Starc isn't the best either. I just think you're asking for trouble having more than one guy in your team who can't bat. Starc needs to be our worst batsman. If he's coming in at 9 that's giving England, NZ, India etc a big advantage right then and there.

Not sure if anyone is following the utter balls-up currently ocurring with tv rights in Australia but in a nutshell: Channel 7 overpaid for the rights and gave up far too much content to FOXTEL including home T20I and ODIs leaving them with only tests and the BBL. Anyone could tell that this was not worth what they paid for it and now they are trying to use Covid as an excuse to tear up the contract citing "reduced quality."
While the BBL will be reduced in quality due to a lack of international players, I don't see this as being a particularly big issue for the tests against Afghanistan and India. The cricket will be the exact quality it would have been otherwise. So what are they talking about? No crowds. I'm sorry, but they would have been insisting the Perth games are played in full houses at the WACA rather than 45'000 empty seats at Optus stadium and cutting the always poorly attended Gabba test out of the schedule if they really cared about crowds. And I'm sorry, but this is India coming. Why on earth would you not use the highest grossing test series you could possibly host to try and make back some of your investment?
Anyway, the end game is no cricket at all on free to air next summer. While I can access the games anyway, it's just not good for any sport to be completely hidden behind a paywall.

The other issue Hosko is that both 7 and 9 couldn’t rouse up decent coverage of sport if their lives depended on it. Ch10 got the BBL coverage right with the perfect mix of analysis, humour and concise commentary. In the end, Ch9 cricket coverage ended up like their rugby league and afl coverage - low brow, blokey dumbed down shit that had little soul and no humour. Ch7 started well, but fell into the same trap. In contrast Fox does a great job with all 3 on pay TV, ABC radio is still good, and Triple M did well with the cricket and does well with Rugby League (I’ve heard their AFL coverage isn’t great though).

Triple M's AFL coverage includes Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw and Eddie Maguire. My feelings on the first two I have shared many times and while #istandbymypresident, Eddie isn't a good commentator, though he does do a decent job hosting Friday Night Football on Fox. Haven't heard their cricket coverage as I'm quite happy with the ABC radio coverage and prefer no ads.
CH10's BBL coverage was excellent. Too many of the same guys on C7 who sucked on 9. Barrackers like Slater, Clarke and Healy. KP as a visiting English and South African commenter. You can do better than all 4 of these and we all know it. It's still a club, mostly made up of fellas, with nothing of any value to say.

Triple M only had the cricket on the radio for 2 seasons - but they got the mix 100% right in the second year. Having Kerry O’Keefe is always a bonus, but they got actual comedians to do the comedy (HG Nelson, Lawrence Mooney, Mick Molloy) and got rid of the chaff from the first year (Slater, Darren Berry). They also had naturally gifted story tellers and ‘different’ personalities and voices. Phil Tufnell, Merv Hughes, Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Isa Guha, Ian Botham. But the big plus was the ball by ball guys knew when to shut up and when to say what they needed. Mark Howard, Gus Worland (I’m still amazed how well he did) and strangely James Brayshaw. The ads were annoying, but it was great to hear a yarn take 3-4 overs, without all but the minimal interruption.

And they still finish with comfortably the biggest score of the series and, with Australia 5-125 in reply, should win.

Seems like England is going to meet an embarrassing defeat. 46 needed of 32 balls. That's not considered a difficult job in today's game.

Morgan's a numptie for giving the last over to Rashid instead of Curran.

Some interesting tactics by both sides in this game - the critical moment though was Bairstow getting bowled by Cummins when he was. 300 was a par score on that pitch and with one boundary very short like it was. Fantastic knocks by Carey and Maxwell, but Stoinis and Marsh will not want to see to many replays of their dismissals. As for bowling Rashid in the last over - I can understand the rationale. Any pace and Starc has the entire third man region to ease a ball into. Make him make the pace and take a risk against one of the best white ball spinners in the game and see if he picks it....

Yep, I understand why Morgan gave it to Rash, he has 3 varied deliveries so the thinking was the tail would struggle - but when you toss one up first ball you are asking for trouble, and thus Starc hit one that hasn't landed yet. For all that, he should have given it to Curran, he has proven up to the task this summer. Would help if Archer doesn't get a wicket with a no-ball and Buttler once again drops one... Cest La Vie, well chased down by Oz, England were let down by their pacemen, but it has been a great summer of cricket. It should be noted that Oz did this series without Smith, so to win 1-2 in England is some achievement, but much like England there's still plenty of work to do for them also.

In the desert will start the IPL today. I have decided I will use IPL as a way to get super-slim. I get bored on treadmill listening to songs so don't run for than 15 mins. But if I have sports to see then I don't get tired/bored of running even for an hour. So I will stream IPL and run on treadmill everyday for the next one and half months or so.

Have you put on any weight during the pandemic? I've put on about 20 lbs I'm ashamed to say.

On 2nd June when I returned to my hometown I started getting healthier food so lost those 8 lbs. IPL gives me chance to lose even more. Don't take too much risk, man. It's easy to gain weight but way difficult to lose.

Need to go out for walks every day.
