Ali loves the edge. drifts in - straightens up. lovley - 84-3
strange pitch this - looks easy until you get 'in' as a batsman...

England are poor at finishing off tails. Another 30 partnership for 9th wicket.

in aus - i have to go for them.
3-1 to aus i suppose.
I think we are very similar in quality - so the home advantage will put them over the line.

Depends on the pitches prepared and the weather conditions. England have a strong attack, but a little brittle in the batting, much like the Saffers who won here last year. This Aussie team is vulnerable to anyone who hangs in there in games. Our attack is a little over rated. Our batting is great on flat pitches, but tends to succumb to any sort of sustained quality bowling. England bat deep, but oy Root and Cook inspire confidence in the top order. Lost a lot of quality with the decline of Bell, the banishment of KP and the forced retirement of Taylor (who was going to be a beauty IMO).

SL is having a real bad time since retirement of their two run machines. Mathews looked good initially but even he is plain bad now.
England vs WI does not inspire any excitement.
Any news on Australia's internal players and board's dispute?

Australia - the board rolled over like puppies. It was always going to happen. The players had fair and reasonable demands and were treated like scum throughout the entire episode, which is basically how cricket has been run in Australia for well over 100 years now. Stuffy, miserable men in suits who think they know everything and represent the majority when in actual fact they know very little about how the general everyday public. Ivory Towers and all that. Even Bradman, who is revered all of the cricket world, was a bastard of an administrator. He simply could not fathom how if he was able to have a high paying job and have cricket on the side earning him peanuts, why every other cricketer was not able to do the same. He honestly believed that his 'job' in stockbroking in Adelaide had absolutely nothing to do with his fame as a cricketer, and the time off to play and tour etc. was something every cricketer could simply ask for and receive.

Root and Cook both on tons in England's first ever day/night test (v Windies.)
246/2
Stoneman and Westley fall early doors.

I'll give it a go, but odds on for a duck. edit: 2, one of which was more of an educated guess than the other. I'm kicking myself for not going with the first thought on the hyphenated name one.

Eng beat WI by Innings and 209 runs.
The last time England had their 2 leading wicket-takers playing in the same Test was v WI Oval August 1963 (Trueman & Statham).
Most wickets taken in a day by England: 20 v Ind Manchester 1952, 19 v SA Cape Town 1889, 19 v Zim Lord's 2003, 19 v WI Birmingham 2017.
Most wickets lost in a day by West Indies: 19 v England Birmingham 2017, 18 v England The Oval 1933.

What a result. I think a bit too one sided. Although English fans definitely have enough reasons to be pleased with the results.

If the West Indies aren't as strong as Ireland, Afghanistan, Nepal and Holland - I'm not here.
Honestly, they'd struggle to beat Namibia or Papua New Guinea at the moment.

It seems like the WI powers that be are shooting themselves in the foot demanding that players play domestic cricket in order to be eligible for the national side. That's robbing them of players like Gayle and Bravo. I'm not a fan of T20 but it looks like that genie is out of the bottle, but I am a fan of seeing the best players available in Test cricket.
[and they didn't even select Bravo when he made himself eligible]
