Zampa drops an easy catch late which ends the Hurricane's chances. Thunder did everything they could to lose it. Against a better team they would have. But they win and are through to play the Heat.

And I'm sticking by my guns on Warner and not fully backtracking on Smith either. Davey's done. He might get a couple of first innings 50s in the next 9 tests but that's it. He has looked like absolute dog shit this summer apart from one innings.
And the Aussie selectors were right not to play Steve Smith in the World T20. He looks great now in the BBL, but that is not how he was playing in the lead up to that tournament and not how he has performed in the past for either the 6ers or Australia. He should get an extended run in the national side coming out of this BBL run, but that's irrelevant to the question of whether he was worth a spot before.

Jason Roy got his mojo back today, scoring an excellent 113 from 91 balls against South Africa. England, chasing 299, are cruising at 212 for 4 after 32 overs. Buttler (29 from 28) and Ali at the crease.

England no longer cruising, Ali and Buttler both out. England have six down and need 65 runs from 13 overs. I think England will get the runs, but at least South Africa have a sniff. Could we be in for a surprise result?

Heat win in rather unsatisfying circumstances. D/L deciding the Thunder needed to to be 60 after 6.5 overs chasing 206. Heat win by 8 runs. Mind you, given they scored 205, Thunder winning on 1-52 would have been far less satisfying. Excellent 94 from Khawaja.

South Africa win by 27 runs as the England lower order withers under the pace of Nortje, who took four. Three wickets for Sisanda Magala. Magala's an excellent death bowler. Genuinely happy for Roy. Should g8ve him confidence to get his eye back. And whatever complaints you guys with Temba in T20 cricket, surely no one questions his role in the ODI squad? Should have been in the coloured clothes years before he was. Saffers in a bit of trouble in WC qualification aren't they after forfeiting 3 games down under? Big win for them.

I've long been of the opinion that England's issues can be solved pretty easily. It involves sending a text message: "Hey Stokesy, doing anything October-November?

Steve Smith didn't pick a great night to play his normal T20 innings.

England post a huge 342. It's going to take some getting but the SA are at 54 without loss after seven. Temba Bavuma off to a bit of a flyer, let's hope he doesn't throw it away. De Kock is just warming up, and with Van Der Dussen, Markram, Klaasens and Miller to follow there could be fireworks.

Temba hits a hundred as Saffers chase 342. India defeat NZ in a weird game to square the T20 series and Brisbane knock out the Renegades in the BBL.

By 4-101 in the 20th over is making shockingly heavy work of it in response.

England 5 for 2 - with Roy and Duckett back in the hut, as Ngidi strikes twice.

England are behind the eight ball at 121 for 3 after 28 overs, but Jos Buttler (65 from 77) is threatening to explode. Will this be his day? Dawid Malan is on 42 from 73 balls. They are going to have to up the scoring rate soon, though.

England finish on an impressive 346 for 7, thank to a brilliant 232-run partnership from Buttler and Malan - who both scored immaculately paced centuries, and a 23-ball blast from Moen Al (41)i at the end. SA - without Quinton De Kock today, are going to have to play really really well to top England's score. The Chase should be a cracker.

A win and they jump over the Windies into 8th and automatic WC qualification. Lose and they have to finish top 2 in the qualifying group (which they will, but well and truly the long way around). And England win. Saffers remain a game outside direct qualifying.
