England in West Indies: How concerned should we be by England's form?www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/47111247Mark Butcher was on the radio today and he was utterly scathing - which is unusual - he mused that collapses happen and bad days etc etc, but he charges that England showed a lack of heart (something he definitely couldn't be accused of himself). What's more damning is that I think he is right! While Baylis says the mind set is scrambled between red and white ball cricket!!! FFS. Well, I sort of agree with Butcher. It's very unlikely that England would bat so badly in all the 4 innings of the 2 matches played considering WI's bowling is good but not great. Some of those dismissals were baffling. Buttler was walking down the crease to a fast bowler on a lively wicket!
But while it's a big worry for England to get their opening batsmen problem sorted out in tests as soon as they can, I would still say none of their technical problems in batting would be a concern for 2019 WC. They play on batting surfaces at home. And I do agree that England's mindset may be of ODI cricket especially given the fact that they badly want to win that elusive world champions title.
I have absolutely no concerns about England's white ball cricket, England should rightly be the team to beat. Especially for WC at home!

England has already become stronger without having to do anything because the stupid ICC has banned Windies Captain Holder from participating in the 3rd test match for slow overrate.

NZ batsmen totally destroyed the Indian bowlers. Now kiwi bowlers are also having a great day.
New Zealand 219/6 India 77/6 * (11/20 ov, target 220)
What an amazing performance for NZ. It's their warning that they are not to be taken lightly for WC.

Jason Gillespie was a great Aboriginsl cricketer from South Australia. Unfortunately not quite the talent in the women's ranks, bowled out for 10 by NSW.

Oh it gets worse for the South Australian lasses - 6 of their 10 runs were wides. Top score off the bat was 4. That’s right, 6 wides, a 4 and 10 ducks......

I knew there was 6 extras, didn't know that there was only one scorer.
I remember a Mercantile Mutual Cup game in the 90s where Jo Angel had some fun against Victoria and their last 5 bats all made ducks after they were about 1-100. 10 ducks is pretty impressive.

England 96/3 * (43.1 ov)
Seems like Jennings is unwilling to take his opportunities and there may not be one in the next test that England play. The upper order of England continue to put pressure on the middle order. Can English Middle order find some form in this match?

The Kiwis have thrashed India to lift the T-20 series. Well done, Kiwis!
I was looking for info about 1987 World cup. I was told many years back that either Gooch or Gatting swept Indians out of the world in the semi-finals by executing the sweep shot very well. Is that true?
And that local fans then lent their support to the Aussies, who went on to win their first WC. I started watching the game in 1991. So I don't know much about 80s.

I am boycotting the West Indies V England Test Match on account that they dropped Jennings for being crap against pace, then brought him back to face a four man pace attack...
You couldn't make it up. This after Root in pre match press conferences said that they have got selections wrong this tour...
Incidently, Root looks shot, like Botham back in the early 80s when the captaincy hung around his neck like a heavy duty anchor.
Cook out of retirement for The Ashes...

I guess the problem is that they do not have any top order batsman who is meaningfully contributing and so they are rotating between the limited options that they have got.
At this point of time I will indeed like to welcome back Sir Alastair for one more year. But I feel there is very little chance of that happening. Could have easily happened if he was a Pakistani but don't think many English players have a history of doing that sort of thing. And it does seem that captaincy is putting a burden on Root, who can't match his previous non-captanicy level in batting. I would love if he himself resigns from his captaincy role.
England back in the contest BTW. WI are 4 down for 71.

Mark Wood back with a bang! Be good news for England if he can stay fit and be in form, he's probably England's quickest bowler on the test scene.

No Holder, Paul unable to bowl...
Root first 50 in 8 innings...
Jennings fails again, Denly 69 - he will be kicking himself, a glorious chance of a 100 wasted.

Paul is crocked, Bravo struggling with finger injury, England will no doubt bat them out the game for the first session and half - a customary collapse not withstanding of course...

He may not be in big trouble if it was not caught on camera but what the hell Gabriel. It's time when WI should keep their emotions in check and concentrate on the game than try out stupid insults. What a stupid thing to do
